The new ones by Marek Reichmann seem to be less classic.  It's a whole new Aston Martin.  I call it "Neo Aston Martin."  The design doesn't seem to be as well received as the original Callum/Fisker designs.  But they are beautiful and modern.  The cars I bet also drive a lot better!  I can't say for sure since I haven't driven them. 

It is indisputably a superior car in every tangible way to the previous generation V8 Vantage (which I've also driven), and yet, I still prefer the older generation! As I mentioned before, outright performance simply isn't my subjective metric of main reference when it comes to choosing a sports car. The entire new line of cars (btw, I love your moniker!) is vastly technologically improved to the last generation, but I don't think they measure up quite as well design and 'charm'-wise. They are still super attractive cars, and I like them a great deal as well, but I'll still buy an older Aston for myself. Something about that second generation DBS and second generation Vanquish that no other sports car has managed to usurp in my eyes. The French would say 'je ne sais quoi' . And those brand-new hypercars - Valkyrie and Valhalla, are in a league all their own, and given some tremendous stroke of monetary fortune, I'd happily have either over the 'crazy bhp performance' counterparts from other manufacturers. They all achieve comparable performance statistics on paper, but again, it's all about the philosophy of engineering and design. Cheers, Filip

I drive a fairly old AMG, and while it is fast, it's not the most refined car. Nearly 500 horsepower and only a 5 speed automatic transmission doesn't lend itself to the most refined experience. But the new AMGs are so good. The new turbocharged cars still have a better sound than the turbocharged Ferraris (I don't know why Ferrari's cars don't sound as good as an AMG, but honestly, the AMG sounds better). The AMGs have also become plenty emotional through sound, scintillating performance, great communication to the driver, and the ride has also improved (the car is more comfortable than before). That's one brand that's really done a great job! The BMW M cars are also becoming a bit too smooth and too easy to drive. I can't spin a Porsche 911, even if I do something intentionally to upset the car the car doesn't spin anymore (on a private track of course, I don't do silly things on a public road). Cars, their tires, suspensions, traction control, and other things have gotten so advanced over the years that they've just gotten so good. But only AMG seems to have kept all the good and improved all of the bad, while still keeping all of that emotion alive. The saddest thing is that at the peak of the combustion era, at its finest, we are going towards electric cars. The best gasoline cars will be so incredibly short lived!

over the past decade in my opinion. For my money, they are now making the best cars of the 'Big 3' German manufacturers. I love the fact that AML has chosen to partner with them for various components over any other car maker. It's a hugely beneficial partnership for both companies. Yes, you are right in saying that the best ICE vehicles will end up having relatively short production runs, but what a soulful bittersweet swan-song they present to us all!! this was my viewpoint during breakfast this morning, and I immediately thought of you!

My absolute favorite sports car. No, it's not exactly elegant compared to an Aston Martin. But it's a great performer that's still very emotional! A tenor, where the Aston Martin is more a Bass. I'd get mine in either dark grey or black with lime-green brakes. Lovely machine. Just lovely. Tiny trunk. But I'd suffer that tiny trunk! Besides, I'd be penniless after buying one, so I'd probably have little to buy at the store - thus no trunk space needed. The toilet paper from Costco will have to go on the passenger seat or on the roof! Just an incredible machine! Terrible blind spot when changing lanes though. But still like it despite all its faults!

It'll just make me want one even more badly. And I already have two cars and another two ordered cars on the way. Yikes!

Might have to get rid of the AMG. We shall see what happens!

The problem with the Aston Martin is that the costs to run it are so high. Fuel, insurance, maintenance, etc. Depreciation is actually not that bad compared to the fuel, insurance, and maintenance. And everywhere I go these days in California is almost by electric car! And if it's further than the electric car range by a lot, then I just fly. Flying in the USA is mostly fairly convenient. Plus, every time I drive the car, it gets so dirty, so many bugs in the spring/summer time. Driving the Aston would necessitate cleaning it every few days!
