At the risk of being banned from this forum forever for reason of blasphemy, I must admit I’ve not been a big fan of the Reverso.
Somehow I find them a bit feminine, but that’s maybe because the very first time I saw it life, was when we bought one for my daughters birthday (reverso day night with diamonds on the black night dial)
Every time I see a picture like the one you just posted, I think: “that’s not feminine that’s a really really great looking watch”
But when I’m in the boutique and try it in, small nagging voice says no.
Perhaps I’m personally lost for a reverso due to this association but when I see it on your wrist, I say: YES looks great
I hear you and I fully understand and agree. You mentioned Cartier and my daughter happens to have the gold Cartier Tank as well.
You mentioned occasionally you wear one of your wife’s watches. Funny enough I do same. My wife has a Cartier Roadster midsize and I like wearing it from time to time
I’ve tried rectangular shaped watches few times but didn’t feel comfortable with them.
Personally I feel very comfortable with cushion shape watches like Panerai, VC Harmony and 1921.
Regardless of all of the above the Tevetdo looks great on your wrist and I hope you will enjoy it for many decades to come
My daughter is now 32, and I can guarantee you three things:
1) starting from birth every year they will be more expensive,
2) it doesn’t stop when they are adults or finished college or have a job or are married, you just keep spending; I mean instead of teddy bears etc you will buy Cartier Tank, Rolex OP, JLC Reverso, VC Traditionelle for your daughter
3) but the bond between father daughter is one for life and a great one to cherish
I totally understand your comment! I started looking at Reverso and somehow ended up with an original sized one. That was a total no go and sent it back instantly. Way too small and very feminine. I gave it a pass for a few years thinking that they were nice on photos but not for me.
Somehow, I ended up seeing a Reverso Grande Reserve, jumped on it as I always though the complication was interested. I love it. Had it for years and don't think I'll let it go. Size is quite big but that makes me enjoy it even more. It gives a presence on the wrist.
Today, Reverso comes in so many sizes and even shapes (squadra is gone but even the rectangle ones differ a lot from one to another), that it is worth trying and finding what would work for you. The Ultra Thin for example are/feel really big because they are thin (they feel bigger than mine for example).
I think you should just keep trying until you find what matches your wrist.

I had to wear this one a couple of nights ago..
It did cross my mind to wear the Seamaster but it was an event in the evening that required wearing a jacket of some sort. In retrospect, I probably should have and on that NATO nonetheless for that cliched Bond feel :p
Anyway, that kind of broke the Omega spell and the following day, I decided to wear my old Duo for the day switching out the standard black strap for this one on ostrich.
I'll probably have this on for a couple more days. I need to buy a couple of straps for this one to dress it down so I can wear it more often.
Reversos are a beautiful thing, in whatever case size or shape. If I had to choose just one watch to go with a suit, a Reverso would be my default choice. I saw a Rouge TT31 floating around online and did not pull the trigger reasoning out that I have no such need for a piece and that I have other wants that need prioritization. But if I see it again available and accessible, I will take it as a sign

This one's still a bit on the yellow/orangey side.. I want it to turn into a darker tone. Can take awhile I suppose

Mine came on the ostrich strap - so yes it's had plenty of time develop its own patina.

Ah the Monaco. Lovely to look at always and then on the wrist pffft.. But I should give it a try again as the last time I tested one was several pounds lighter.. who knows (nt)

I had the same thought about the Tribute Duo I just bought, though the word that came to mind was “unisex.” I think there are two reasons for the reaction. First, the midsized Reversos like mine (whose dimensions mimic those of the Grande Taille, which ironically means “large size”) are smaller than most modern men’s watches. Second, the rectangular shape is very popular in women’s watches; witness all of those smaller Cartier tank variants. But I have thin wrists so I welcome the smaller size, and I don’t mind the passing resemblance to my wife’s Cartier. Also, at long last, I now have a watch I can pass down to my next generation; I have two girls. : )
