This is a beautiful and beastly watch. All of the dial design refinements of the Amvox 2 AND the clever jumping radial date of the Master Tourbillon were retained, and I believe that this was JLC's first ever round ceramic case. While the movement is technically identical to the Master Tourbillon's 978, the cal 988 movement's STYLE elevates this Amvox iteration to a level above. And it revives the platinum-irridium winder with carbon rotor from the Extreme Lab. My only regret is that the AM3 wasn't built to be more water resistant, because that would have made this an all-around sports watch. But that's nit-picking. Overall, the AM3 was the last of the truly ambitious Amvox models (7 was cool but more of an Amvox 2.5).
Moreover, this model offers a level of style distinction and edgy daring that was missing in the somewhat anodyne (but technically competent) Master Tourbillon. And for good measure, JLC applied logic to the jump-date by realigning the date to jump from 31-1st across the tourbillon rather than the 15th-16th.
Best,
Tim
