Just a curious thought, but does anyone know what kind of tolerances RM usually holds for their cases or machined parts? Since we are talking about such small parts, I would think these parts would be very precise, but I was wondering if anyone know how precise? I have read a few articles where some cases take 40 stamping operations before CNC, etc. All the manufacturing technology and process that goes into the making of one RM watch is simply amazing.

materials used in the RM watches all have their patent filed limits.  Richard then subjects the watches to shock tests that far exceed the industry standard.  I had heard that watches such as the RM027 were tested up to a 1000G.  Seems improbably high, I grant you, but I am assured that such limits are tested.

I guess the short answer is that it depends on the watch.  Some are made for higher limits than others.  For example, the RM056 would probably not stand up too well to the same testing as the RM027!

but I was more interested in how tightly they can control the tolerances of the case size and internal machined components? I know they test the case with a probe to make sure the final case is within it's design limits but wasn't sure if they try to hold the machining tolerances to 10 microns or how tightly they can control this process.
