RM035: Some pictures of the ultimate sport watch

It's perhaps a bit surprising and strange to say this, after having been blessed with the opportunity to try many extremely special watches over the years... But I have a confession to make: The last few days with the RM035 has been some of the most pleasurable experiences in my watch-collecting history.

I had my doubts when it was first announced last year having passed it off at first as simply a "cheap version of the RM027", but upon further inspection and research, I realized that the RM035 would be a perfect sporty watch for my use.

I know that there's no tourbillon, no split seconds or normal chrono, or even a date, but I think this simple three-handed watch is a perfect, pure distillation of Richard Mille's philosophy and essence. There are no functions for the sake of having complications, and I am glad for it in this particular case...

The size, weight, materials, and design all come together in a perfect package for an ultimate sport watch. Ultra light, just the right size, a sporty black color with a surface coating that's hard enough to take the knocks of life, a very comfortable strap, and a very readable dial (the final version dropped the skeletonized hands for fully-lumed hands, which greatly improves the readability) The watch is simply extremely comfortable and easy to wear, which is the most important element in a sporty watch.

The hacking seconds hand and reassurance of the Chronofiable certification also reinforce the feeling that this is a high-tech precision timepiece. (Yes, I'm one of those people that like to set the time to the atomic clock's signal and track the watch's performance...)

And last but not least, the movement design with the trademark Richard Mille style of skeletonization and minimal bridges, combined with the mix of different materials and surfaces and very fine finishing all really catch the eye and give the watch a lot of depth and three-dimensionality... This is something that you can't really see in pictures (but I've still tried to capture...)

You can really appreciate the depth and finishing in your second shot, which is perfect. I think the RM035 is the more attractive watch of the 2 shown. I like the basic 3 hands and the skeloton treatment is excellent. Thanks for the pictures ( I have never tried on a Richard Mille watch. The main reason I would like to is to feel how light they are, which can't be appreciated in a picture. The styling is not always my cup of tea, but I would love to try on a high end watch that weighs less than 40-50 grams, or even lighter than that )
