My 60th birthday is coming up this month and I resolved to myself that I would get a nice present to celebrate this important milestone.
Some of you may agree that watch dinners are extremely dangerous, especially to watch-nuts like me as they lure us into plunging at our weak moments. Admittedly, it was over a year ago that I first spotted the RM 23 in white gold - on an occasion that Richard Mille graced Hong Kong personally, introducing his new models. I did not pay much attention to this piece until I tried the watch on my wrist at the Pacific Place boutique several weeks ago...it was WOW!
Psychologically, one motivating factor was that I did not acquire anything at the Christie's auction two days ago (if you look up the auction results, some prices went right through the roof), so I do have some budget to play around with...
I used to own a RM 10 in rose gold but lately I am leaning towards the more subtle white metal. Also, the RM 10 is a slightly bigger piece and it was like a chunk of gold sitting on the wrist...
Enough said. Allow me to share my delight with some pictures:
First of all, the mesmerizing depth of the watch is amazing:

One last look at the movement:

Here are some old pictures of the RM 10:

Fashion rules! N'est pas?

I hope I am getting older and wiser at the same time...

At this juncture, we can rarely find WG or Ti RM 23 pictures on the net. I suspect more RG pieces have been produced so far...but it's too 'girlie' for me.

Although it wasn't a surprise for me, it's far better looking than I remember. Your photos make it look more realistic than the promo. pics.
The size is perfect for you.
Wear it in the best of health, my friend! 60 is the new 50!

The AP you mentioned is called "Queen's Road' and is a limited edition of 100 pieces, sold exclusively by Carlson in Hong Kong (the shop is located in Queen's Road, of course), just like the ROO 'Orchid Road' and ROO 'Ginza'.
It comes with a croco strap just like other ROOs (e.g. Safari, Montauk Highway) but for everyday use I have switched to a rubber one.

As for the Cartier Santos Dumont skeleton....SJX recently posted an article about it...

A very dressy piece, IMHO
