Finishing : finishing of CVSTOS is quite good for its price .
Design : Design of RM is much better, It show the spirit of brand name , original, harmony in both case and movement , Mr.RM done great work . RM design is iconic design, also comfortable wear . CVSTOS is copy of RM , so it do not show its spirit .
Brand name: can not compare between RM and CVSTOS , it is too different . RM is revolutionary . It bring new trend into watches industry .
i have been lucky enough to try both the rm005 and the cvstos challenge chrono and have to say that, wonderful as the rm is, it definately didn't feel that is was worth twice the price of the challenge chrono. its not until you have both in your hand that the extra money seems hard to part with. In terms of weight, finish and strap/deployment buckle, the cvstos outgunned in every department. The inner workings of the 005 don't stand out particularly either compared, say, to the rm11 which does have some beautiful ultra-precision complexity to show off. i myself went for the black dial cvstos challenge chrono in steel/rubber and haven't looked back. chunky, complex and a real 'deadly' piece of horological art. i just hope it is a reliable piece. some of the dodgy stories i've read about re: rm watches are very worrying. As the cvstos is built on an ETA base and with franck muller technology no doubt part of the cvstos equation, i think it will be a very sturdy performer.
i find it laughable that some are using the 'cheap copycat' card when cvstos is mentioned. Cvstos watches retail at approx $15000 and go into the mid $100k's which is hardly bargin basement. Furthermore, RM does not have a patent on technological skeletal-tourneu shaped watches. What about Hautlence, DeGrisogono Meccanica, Urwerk and the very newly established HD3. Long may the ultra-complex, analogue tech-watch trend continue and feel lucky if you can afford to wear pieces from any of these brands. As someone once said in reference to this new breed of high-tech watches, "it takes alot of guts to spend a shed load of money on a piece that, from a distance, 99% would think is a limited edition Swatch" (probably a contented tag heuer owner methinks)
