Appears to be missing a covering. The black NTPT is exposed in asia edition, whereas it is covered in this unique red piece below.
In the Asia edition, the exposed inner bezel makes the watch appear chunkier and the movement somewhat squashed, whereas in the original 027-02 and the red one below it feels more harmonious.
I often wonder if an owner of an LE like this could have certain aesthetic pieces of the watch swapped out - like the rubber cover of the winding crown, or inner bezel colour. A light blue or white would make the black NTPT of the asia edition really pop.
Always enjoy seeing these special editions, the personality of the watch can change dramatically with tweaks such as this.

After seeing two different pictures of this watch posted over the weekend the first thing I noticed was the case. It's not the same case as the 27-02 it looks as if its the case from the RM35-01. All of the RM027's have 8 screws in the bezel while this one on the other hand has 10 not to mention the thickness of the case. I know people are saying it's a limited edition of 10 but to me it almost seems like a prototype that was thrown into an RM35-01 case kind of like the RM59-01 prototype was tested using the RM038 case. As for changing aesthetic pieces, I recently sent back an RM055 for service after the rubber piece of the crown split (they need to make a ceramic replacement option for the crown on manual wind RM's or figure out how to replace them in the boutiques) and I asked them if I could replace the white rubber with a red rubber crown to match the seconds hand but when I received the estimate back they told me that they are no longer doing that which surprised me because I have seen multiple RM055's and RM35-01's with non original colors.

My eye did not pick that up initially - but once you mentioned it, it became blatantly clear; this is an 035-01 case with the 027-02 movement squeezed into it. Seeing 3 'horns' on the case sides vs 2 paired with the tourbillon movement is rather peculiar. That would be quite the story if RM ended up with a small surplus of 027-02 movements and decided there were margins to be padded .
I appreciate the first-hand anecdote on your 055, and am surprised to hear they would not honour the request. To date it seems RM enjoyed indulging requests to help owners have something which felt even more special. Perhaps that changes over time. Even more surprising is that it cannot be performed at a boutique!

It was pretty frustrating to be honest. If you look at pictures on social media or even listings online you can see that the rubber wears down on the crown fairly easily over time on manual wind RM's. I specifically told them that I only wanted the rubber piece replaced only to find out after waiting a month for an estimate that the watch "needed to be serviced when sent to the service center" which meant a bill in the thousands of dollars because it was out of their "3+2 warranty" period. Not like I could have said no and opted for an aftermarket crown since they don't exist. To their credit as soon as I approved the estimate the watch was back in my hands within three weeks but it's kind of ridiculous to have a flimsy piece of rubber like that on watches that retail north of $100k that you can't replace in a boutique if you ask me, but i guess that's the price you pay for a brand as exclusive as RM ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
