i dont know what it is, but i'm so used to seeing military dials in pretty plain cases that despite the beautiful lugs they look odd together as if the lugs are earlier than the dial.
i'm sure you know what i mean by this. 30's style lugs and 40's style dial despite the fact that i am sure they are original.

Bringing the camera is a good thing, but forgetting the case opener is inexcusable.
I was invited to take some pictures of a few watches and among them, a revelation, a Gubelin.
A superb case, whose dimensions are perfect for my wrist, and whose lugs make me think to some divine creations from Vacheron and Jaeger.
The dial, the true soul of the watch, is not less captivating with its warm hour markers contrasting in a delicious way with the black background.
Behind the screw in case back... A manual movement, which I would love to see, if only I didn't forget the bloody case opener!

You could have forgotten to pu the memory card in the camera...
Then it would have been a total disaster (talking from experience ;-)

Once, I pushed by accident on the memory card ...
When taking the battery out to charge it...
I put the loaded battery, and took some pictures several days after...
At the end of 6 pictures, a signal came: " Memory Card overloaded "...
It was the internal card of the camera, which is selected by default.
It took me one full minute ( which is pretty long ) to calm down and to get what happened.

An under appreciated brand
Gubelin seem to have made some fine watches in the mid century period. They used some good movements too,
Felsa, AS Schild, as well eternamatics, which they rebranded as gubelinmatics or ipsomatics. A lot of the cases and dials seem to aged well, suggesting good quality manufacturing. I once came across a gubelin chronograph, which if I remember correctly was a Valjoux 72 which had 19 jewels!
Of interest is the company logo, which is an hourglass timer. I think that in the 19 th century they may have started out as watchmakers before switching to becoming predominantly jewellery makers and retailers. I have a soft spot for them, as mywife got her engagement ring made by gubelin a few years ago when we were living in Berne.
