Horological Meandering

I have a chance to try on both watches, both has a unique theme, design and functionality. I know they are very different in all possible ways but if you have a chance to grab just one, how would you choose? For you infomation, my watches are from 2 very distinct camps...the Patek and Panerai, so you can tell I have a wide range of interest.

It come with a skeletonised titanium case. Showing through a skeleton dial is a 1970’s automatic movement, modified in the Andersen Genève Atelier. The sapphire crystal case-back displays the retouched movement with a 'Blue gold' rotor plate bearing the LW and AG logo. “Use of blue gold in horology, exclusive in Andersen Genève watches” AHCI 2008 brochure states.

The Titanium version has a titanium grade 5 case with a darker brushed finish.  Hence light weight.
The Ruthenium dial changes of color with the light...from brown to the grey. Overall very understated.

It really depends on what you "want".

The SpidoLite is a freaking cool watch. It looks from outer space, the SA movement  makes it even more attractive.  It looks great, to me.

AMVOX I Ti.  No doubt, the coolest AMVOX I out there. Its titanium grey overall look makes it very special. The "best" tone for the alarm function and very comfortable on the wrist. (I own the SS one).

 

So, asthetically both are gorgeous timepieces. Love the "stealth" look of the LW but my heart goes and would go JLC anytime.  

 

Whichever you'll choose, you won't be wrong.  Keep us updated.

Very different, as you suggest, and what I would choose would depend significantly on what else was in my collection.

 

If I was after a large avant-garde design I would go for the SpidoLite, but the JLC has a certain pedigree and history, particularly now with the evolution of the Amvox series. The complications are different as well. LW has mixed up the equation further by including a modified vintage movement by a watchmaker with some cachet.

 

Vte is correct that there is no wrong answer. An interesting choice for you. I look forward to hearing which way you go …

If you go for the Spidolite, I would serious check out the black version before buying the titanium.  I had the original Spidolite on order and when it arrived they just announced the all black version and I immediately switched it.   The blue hands on the black version make it look 100% better and a very cool watch indeed, it is not really black either it is just a very dark grey to not too heavy looking on your wrist.  The black is also a Sven Anderson movement.

Gotta love JLC though and have a couple myself (not an Amvox however), so not an easy choice.

thanks for the tips, I love the black more and the blue hands are eye candy, but I already have some black Panerai.  Also am afraid what to do with them when black it 'out' next year...ok with pam as they have a long history to support PVD & ceramic continues the legacy, but LW is purely a fashionable tool watch to me...so I have reservation.
Also I miss a gray watch in my collection so you can see my choices both have brushed Titanium finish and gray dial.

Don't worry... black has been in for a couple of years and it will continue for some time in my opinion.

The black is not a real dark black (like Hublot for example), its a very soft looking black colour if that makes any sense!  From putting the original grey on my wrist, it just looks and is boring, the dial, hands etc look flat and dull.  The black in contrast with the shiny silver workings, blue hands and black everything else looks 3d and a great looking watch.  What it needs is a blue hand on the grey model... but I asked and it could not be done.

In my humble opinion... if I had to go between the grey and the JLC... I would chose the JLC (and I love LW's) or the titanium Oktopus.
