Jewellery Time 2008 - Cortina Watch
30 October 2008, 7pm Paragon Shopping Centre Atrium
Today was the official opening of the 'Jewellery Time 2008' .
This 5th biennial exhibition (since year 2000) by Cortina Watch will be held from 30 October to 9 November with 16 international brands taking part.
This year was based on the rock baroque theme. The intention is to let the visitors experienced a 'transparent world' with lots of glass and crystals used for the showcases, wall panels, chandeliers and decor. About half a million SGD was spent for the setting up of the exhibition.
The HongKong celebrity-guests from for this round are Michele Reis (actress and ex-Miss Hong Kong in 1988) and CantoPop singer, Leon Lai (included a gentleman as Jewellery Time 2008 is not just for the fairer gender only).
For the first time, this year there are bejewelled timepieces for men from nearly all the 16 brands.
An estimate was given, the total cost to stage the whole event could be about SGD2.5 Million.

Arrived earlier at about 5:30pm..... last minute touched up and preparation was still ongoing ....

Who did I meet there? Xavier Dufoix (Managing Director of JLC Asia) & Jerome Lambert (CEO of JLC)
A showcase with photographs of 16 individual watch-collectors from all walk of life. Each was chosen to represent a brand.
All the photographs were compiled into a Coffee-table-book.
At the centre was this key and the most of the photographs have the individual passing the keys.
I'm unable to catch the meaning or what the mystery is about.
After dinner, went back to the exhibition area ....
Guests were signing in.....
Wow! That's a lot of people!
A quick look before it was too packed to move around ....
Ok, GP's showcases are the most interesting.... the rooms of the founders!
Firstly the room of Marie Perregaux. The showcase was built with attention to details!

Just next door ( or showcase) was the study room of Constant Girard.

Look at the attendance .... the second and third floors were packed too....awaiting to see the celebrities
About 8:10pm.... the emcee appeared and greeted everyone. It was so packed I could not make it to the front ...so proceed the higher floor...

Followed by a performance of the Band ....
While everything was going on outside, in the Cortina Boutique directly across the exhibition atrium, the celebrity-guests had arrived.

At about 8:50pm.... the mega-stars appeared!
