there was a discussion about this same moral issue a couple of months ago and the general concensus is that the lucky buyer really should take it back and explain its value and rareity. she may tell you to keep it for the price paid. personally i think it should go back to the ex husband.
he may have his brains in his trousers, but thats no reason for him to be ripped off and lose such an iconic watch.

i put my first reply in before i realised who it was and thought it a bit odd that you sounded like a newbie who didnt know what he had.
you have a similar sense of humour to me, warped, twisted and only appreciated by the few.
but if it had been off the bay or from a dealer then fair play i say.
how has yours been? i've heard lots of horror stories, but refuse to be swayed. i WILL have mine in november regardless of funds or faults.
