Started with a Classic

Because I knew it was only going to get to meet its sibling this one time....

 

Have I mentioned that the meeting was all too brief? Anyway, it's about 98 degrees now (at 3.15 pm) so the Classic has gone to bed and the Trio is back with its rightful owner who isn't me, grrr argh. And I'm wearing a sensible PAM 24 on a sweat-immune rubber strap on now. I think I've posted enough pix of my 24 this week, so I'll spare you the redundant view

I'm gonna have Trio on the brain for a few days. Life's tough, but there a go

Is 21:15 here in Bucharest and the temperature is just about 32° C. You don't wanna know what was at 14:00 ! The Aqua Terra is still standing and running flawless at +1 sec/day   I wonder for how long !

Fun day. Heading out this morning I saw that my neighbor was setting up for a garage sale. Sad actually, she and her husband are separating (he ran off with the other women) and she was selling a bunch of his things in order to "wind down their life" as she says. For some reason he left a box of watches at the house when he moved out.

In the box was a seiko discus, couple swatches, his fathers rolex (she was asking about $5,000 for that!) and this one.

It jumped at me with it's clean look and modern styling. It is hard to see in the picture, but the only brand markings are a small "MIH" at the 9 o'clock position. I had never heard of them before, but she said it stands for "Made In Heaven". She said her husband told her he bought it during a business trip from a chain of watch stores in Asia that is like Swatch - stylist watches very cheap - and paid $500. She was asking $150. Seemed a bit high so I told her I would talk to her when I got home.

Anyway, got home a couple hours ago and it was still here so I pressed her fro a better price. She lowered the asking price to $125 and we settled at $115.00.

I have been trying to find "Made In Heaven" on the internet, but only find clothes, a movie, a Song by Queen, and a few marriage consulting sites. Does anyone know anything about "Made In Heaven" or MIH? I hope I didn't just pay $115 for a $65 watch!

there was a discussion about this same moral issue a couple of months ago and the general concensus is that the lucky buyer really should take it back and explain its value and rareity. she may tell you to keep it for the price paid. personally i think it should go back to the ex husband.

he may have his brains in his trousers, but thats no reason for him to be ripped off and lose such an iconic watch.

I received my MIH in April after 6 month wait and paid the 5k like everyone else. Please see my posts for pictures and prior comments, etc.

Story was made up/ based on recent nightmare and what my wife has promised to do with all my watches if I ever consider cheating.

Posted last night, woke up to 3 offers to buy via PM, and a serious (and correct advise I would have followed) discussion on doing the moral thing.

Hope I did not offend. Joke may have ended up on me.

i put my first reply in before i realised who it was and thought it a bit odd that you sounded like a newbie who didnt know what he had.

you have a similar sense of humour to me, warped, twisted and only appreciated by the few.

but if it had been off the bay or from a dealer then fair play i say.

how has yours been? i've heard lots of horror stories, but refuse to be swayed. i WILL have mine in november regardless of funds or faults.

im going to a garage sale today you just never know

actually, just received a limited edition discus from Tokyo. Number 21 of 100. Pictures later but the main difference is that the case I solid metal, not transparent.
