The PuristsPro ABR looks a lot cleaner and all I can say is that no regret.
Job well done, MTF.

ling,
Thanks for the comments.
The PPro ABR is a product of many people -- officially and unofficially -- the unsung PuristS..
Some people may suddenly realise now that their feedback about early prototypes and seemingly "innocent chit-chat about watches in general" have contributed to our PuristS' watch. It was a great learning experience.
Regards,
MTF
I love it!
Thanks everyone who made this happen.
Mike
What can I say,
just got back from a weeks holiday and find the email from MTF.
Amazing, thanks to you all, such a great website and community. It could only happen here!!
All the best to everyone on the site. I'll let you know when it arrives and how I get on with it, I'm speechless!
Cheers,
Tim
well done. I thought I was sooooooo cloooooooose with my guess of 8 changes ;-)
enjoy your new watch and the sweet victory
all the best
COD
there will be general instructions booklet that applies to all the Rescue family of watches.
After all, ABR=All-Black Rescue.
I'm not answering the 2nd part of the question as it may spoil the fun
Regards, MTF
As someone who has quite extensive experience with the original design, both on my own wrist and on the wrist of others I know well, there is one area that a clear and impossible to miss caveat MUST be given - that of making sure the buckle pin is COMPLETELY through the strap hole, far enough so that the "mushroom" pin head is completely clear of the hole.
It is too easy for a lay owner to think the pin is securely through the hole, when it is not, and have the strap come apart and off the wrist.
This is not a product flaw or defect, and any resulting damage will not be considered covered under warranty.
To use the watch properly, the "mushroom head" of the buckle pin MUST BE COMPLETELY AND SECURELY THROUGH the opposing strap hole.

Forumners,
I just found out that 41northpole is away on vacation -- automatic e-mail answering service
I don't know what to do in these circumstances.......
[mwah ha ha] Usually at PuristS' lucky draws, if a name called is not present, we draw another name from the hat........you snooze -- you lose! [mwah ha ha]
There is more drama left in this reality show!..............................
Regards.
MTF (in a quandary)
Don't be too quick to give away his prize.
That PPro LE is really something! I'm very impressed by both the amount of thought that went into it and by the final result. I look forward to receiving mine.
who really took the time to look at the original proposal, deconstruct the intentions, spirit, and purpose, both of the watch itself and the intentions and spirit of the original individuals who conceived the project, and put the pieces back together to again reach a whole greater than the sum of the parts.
This watch is MORE than the sum of the parts, but this possibly cryptic statement will only have meaning to most people after they've owned it for awhile.
It isn't, and never was, meant to be a "fine watch" - it was never represented as such, is not represented as such, and for that, it is "pure."
If, like most other "brands" and "brands to be" do, this watch was priced according to industry standard "mulitples" it would be a $5000 plus watch. It is not. Again, for this reason, it is "pure."
For the intended and stated use and functionality, it incorporates some obvious - pulse and respiration scales - and not so obvious choices - eta 2824 base movement - most made by actual practitioners in those fields (medical doctors, nurses/RN, watch collectors and industry professionals of many years experience) rather than some wannabe watch designers or fantasy Navy Seals. For this background, it is a "pure" watch.
It is not a "perfect watch" - such a watch does NOT exist, in my considered, 30 plus years old fart experience; and will never exist - but this watch was never claimed to be anything other than what it is. It is, what it is. Nothing more, nothing less. Again, for this reason, it is "pure."
The incabloc one piece case (with screw down back) designed to specifically lack nooks and crannies to build up crud and hide "nasty buggers;" the tractor like movement that just works...; the stronger than most PVD finishes currently available on most (even highly regarded) brands - can anyone say early IWC, Panerai, AP NY La Boutique or End of Days?; the high priority given to legibility in all lighting conditions; the selected higher grade than could have been chosen carbon fiber dial; the lack of superfluous design "flourishes" even though it is not quite "minimalist..."
Yes, for me, this is a true "purist" watch and yes, I have ordered a paid for piece that I hope to wear with pride.
For those that get it, welcome to the brotherhood/sisterhood!
And to those that don't, that's alright too. We don't discriminate on personal preferences.
MKVC, we should plan a get together to celebrate first deliveries!
Cheers,
TM
no seriously I hope you find 41 northpole - to miss this is TOO cruel

This message has been edited by MTF on 2008-08-06 13:42:47...and to all who had a hand in the [clearly extensive] modification of the watch. It seems that every modification is logical, sensible and 'adds to', rather than 'subtracts from', the aesthetics and the engineering of the piece. Well done!
It is tantalising that there is now a production model available for comparison to the base from which it was developed. So, MTF, does that mean that we should all start checking our mailboxes in anticipation of delivery being imminent?
Cheers,
pplater.
Thanks to all who worked on this final design.
The dial less busy and easier to read. The 24hour markings are useful in the clinical environment, but probably less useful for civil functions. The identification of the pulsometer and respiratory rate scales is also clearer. Pleased you retained the cross on the back and buckle, to show its ‘roots’. Now we need to make sure that all wearers have done a first aid course and can use these functions to save some lives.
Congratulations 41northpole. You will have to consider changing that to 31Northpole in honour of this win.
I’m also looking forward to seeing that second hands ‘cross’ light up in the dark!
Regards
Andrew
in actual fact most praise should go to the purists who persuaded St Gallen to make one for us and to make so many changes so that we get a very special piece indeed.
i cant wait, when are they coming??
Graham
it was an eye opening contest. I'm astounded at the number of changes although the PuristS attention to detail was to be expected. All in, extremeky well thought out and kudos to all who contributed. my hats off to st gallen for doing this as well.
rubbing my hands in anticipation ......
