Horological Meandering

I am not sure i am posting this in the correct forum, so if anyone can help me that would be great.

 

does anyone have any idea what/who fleiss und wille is?  or perhaps a hallmark F & H?  for a musical pocket watch dated 1903.

It is 14K and appears to be French hallmark.

all input welcome.

 

 

That looks to me to be the saying that goes with that coat of arms.
"Fleiss und Wille"
"Industriousness and Will"
is probably not the most poetic translation, but word for word from German.
My guess is that is the coat of arms that the purchaser had engraved on the watch and says nothing about the watch itself.

thanks don, didn't know what it meant even.  inside the case it is hallmarked F&H i believe.

i can't even identify the song it plays. 

i hope i can get more input from the watchpros.

but you may try to find info on the internet. The "R"on the dial may represent Charles Reuge's, Reuge Movement. He had started making watches with musical movements.

If you find any information, do post it.

I have a wristwatch with the same German Motto and a similar but expanded crest. The watch is a 25 year award for the years 1928-52. The motto translates as Diligence and Will and I suspect it is a corporate or government logo and motto.

I believe this is the motto of the Markhof Family of Austria. I have a 25 Year Wristwatch with their Family Crest engraved on the back.They were and possibly are still involved in a brewery/food company in Austria.







Fleiss Und Wille

I hope they still read PuristSPro.

But at least we  all know the source of the "brand" is actually a family motto.
