Beware: A stroll during lunch break in an AD can drain yr pocket severely....
It's lunch time and since i had time to spare, i decided to walk into an AD that i've no dealings before to kill some time. They had this mini boutique concept in their store so its a convenient way to see many brands under one roof. Just as i was about to leave,i enquired about the availability of a certain model and guess what? The sales rep excused himself and reappeared with the exact watch! The price was good.. the serial number is nice... the exact colour combination... by this time my hand was already out of my control, out came the credit card and the rest is history...
Let me intro u my latest friend:

Mark XV now have a younger but larger brother! LOL

it means that i havent been wearing her for a while..
Have been eyeing that exact watch for a while now and might have already added it to my collection if not for my wedding this year ...
about the IWC that you like? ...you have two.
Is it the chunky manly thing?
Or something else?
Regards,
MTF
PS: No need to worry about wedding anniversary budget because...er...there may not be any anniversary to need a budget
shhhh
knowing that the original pilot's watches wont be easy to find (or afford), perhaps not even a Mark 11, i decided that the Mark xv was the best choice i had at the time. I particularly like the originality of the hands and the dial with reference to the original pilot watches. In fact, it was the arrival of Mark XVI that promted me to take immediate actions. With no offence to the owners of Mark XVI, i felt that they are like a miniature version of the big pilot and therefore it did not speak to me at all. I actually visited no less than 4 stores before i could find it, and nearly all the sales rep were singing praises of the Mark XVI, but i sticked to my original choice.
As for the Port, it wasnt really the manly size but rather the technical aspect of the movement. So its like 80% on the movement and 20% on the diaI design. I particulary remembers Dr Bernard Cheong's description of the ref 5001: "it's the mighty engine equivalent to the Mercedes V12..." So since i couldn't afford a Mercedes with a V12 engine, i may as well buy a watch that has a V12 movement..LOL
P.S The IWC itch is somehow creeping up to me again...this time the re issue vintage ingenieur. Just dont tell my wife ok?
I've always loved the Portuguese. It's elegant, a little sporty and classic. I hope a 3714 will someday be in my future.

Congratulations on your new purchase, I'm so jealous! Don't worry about the wife, just make sure to cook dinner for her tonight
This is what watches do to you........Just early this month, I was at a local AD to collect my wife's watch. While waiting, started a little chat with the sales person while she process the paper works. Somehow, that little chat came round to her whipping out a BR03-92 Military at my face. My heart start to pulsate, palms sweat, my cheek muscle twitched to an uncontrollable grin........out came the credit card.
During my drive home, I was worrying on a acceptable explanation.....to my CFO!!!
Since that fateful day, the watch has been on the CFO's wrist all the time!!! :-(

The Portuguese 7 days is one of the best IWC offerings today IMHO. You made the right choice!
