Somehow this dial just sings to me and the combination of a beautiful movement with flowing bridges - just makes this watch so desirable. Just photographed today and processed. Hope IWC fans enjoy this image as much I did shooting it.

Considering IWC is not known for its finishing of its movements - the Cal98 here is quite beautiful.

I am going to try to guess the camera make - it's a Nikon?

I too had to begin somewhere and struggle through the learning curve. The best way to improve is to hang out in the Photo Forum and keep practising. Also - overcome each hurdle one at a time. Reflection, lighting, positioning, processing etc. You will get better! If I can do it, so can you!

One of my favourites, the timeless Patek ref. 96 and its descendants.

This message has been edited by SJX on 2008-01-06 06:05:03When I chanced on a Platinum or White Gold Calatrava silver dial with coin edge. That made me go "whoooaaaa". Unfortunately I was a struggling recruit in the Army then without any means. :-(
Those days seem like a lifetime ago.
Yes, indeed, the Patek Calatravas do it for me as well.

is this one:
I don't usually like gem-set wristwatches of any sort, but this watch is sublime - the perfect formal dress watch and a classic.

Somehow - like women (sorry sexist statement), diamonds complicate things!
Some of the poorest designed watches become desirable for those with money to burn just because there are diamonds on them. It takes real effort (some would say true genius) to make a true simple classic with just a pure design and basic materials.

Must be late and my brain is not engaging my fingers! :-(
In my mind, I just exclude diamonds from the "classic watch" equation as a whole to avoid having to split hairs. FOr me, whether a watch can be attractive on its own strength is the key - even more so if its to be considered a classic.
I am okay with watches designed from scratch with diamonds but some watches that have diamonds as an afterthought - well, are just variations to the original to me.
So - we agree to disagree lah.

was. I try very hard to forget that day. It haunts me... sob, sob.
:-(
I think so as it has all the right ingredients. Applied markets, understated, beautiful movement.
