Royal Navy Lemania (No-lume) 3312
A rare RN Lemania 3312. This Lemania series 3 is a non-luminous single button white dial chronograph variation as used by the Royal Navy, specifically for use onboard nuclear submarines. These watches were non-luminous in order that the onboard radiation measuring devices would not be activated. These no-lume Lemania were modified by the MoD and were identical to their luminous counterparts except for the lack of lume. These were designated NATO stock number 0552/924-3312. The original NATO s/number of 0552/924-3306 was struck out and replaced with 3312 so as to distinguish between the variants.

Out of curiosity is there any reason why you have two different types of spring bars on it (curved at the bottom and straight on top)?

The photo was taken at my watchmaker before servicing and as it came to me. I have replaced the bent spring bar. The straight, is I believe original, similar to Amanico's spring bars - note the girth of them. I am not sure if some came with FXD bars or not - perhaps Amanico can provide the answer. Either way, I have to try and find that thicker style so as to match.

Stunning example!! Great to see another one. I believe that the production period for the entire Royal Navy submarine monopusher series (including the no-lume variants) falls within a broad timeframe of 1945-1976 but I am sure that the no-lume design was only used for the Nuclear Subs in the early 1960s. I have read, but no hard evidence, that only a few hundred Lemania Series III No-Lume Chronographs were ever issued - perhaps 200. Sound about right to you, Amanico?

Actually the more I look at it the more jaw dropping it becomes. That dial patina is off the planet. It is a series III, right, but I have yet to see one with that symbol beneath the Lemania name?
One thing is sure, my friend, they don't often come out. I only saw 5 in person, and less than ten in photo.
