Hello,

I found an awesome website about the history of wrist watches,

And it really piqued my intrest about the history of wrist watches. Unfortunately the only actual book he cites through his entire historical report is Technique and History of the Swiss Watch which I am purchasing. I was wondering if anyone here knows of other great books about the history of wrist watches in particular, maybe even the history of clocks.

The Watch: A Twentieth-Century Style History - Alexander Barter

Going to save A General History of Horology for another day, $150 for a book is pretty steep.

However, in relation to other recent coffee table sized books with plenty of style over substance (and price tags to match), it probably represents fantastic value and the editors are all recognised as experts in their fields.
Having said all of that, I also don't have a copy yet!!!

I was going to ask you about it if you had, there are very few reviews about it so far

All are hard bound and each about 300-500 pages

I can take a few sample page shots if one tickles your fancy. These aren’t vanity press jobs or biographies they are nuts and bolts (or hairsprings and gears) content.

For example, Wristwatches (2nd in photo) copyright 1988 which isn’t a problem when covering ~ 100 years.
