I would entertain helping start a true luxury timepiece magazine. My wife has repeatedly suggested this to me btw. As a warning, have turned down hosting a series of tv shows, etc in the past, so you best have a proper plan, resources, etc.

imho the only thing that 'makes sense' is to have the main Editor and a writer or two in Switzerland.

And not substance. It is very fashionable nowadays to dismiss accuracy with a pithy "if you care about accuracy, get a quartz watch". Ironically these are the same people who will wax lyrical about the "soulfulness of the beating heart" of a mechanical watch, without realizing that accuracy is determined by how well that heart is constructed and tuned.
Brands have picked up on this too. It is all too rare for brands to give an accuracy guarantee on a specific watch, unless it conforms to a standard like cosc/superlative/master chronometer. When there are guarantees, they usually are listed on a separate generalized page, when you'd think the accuracy of a timekeeping device would be the first spec they list for each product!

Accuracy could be one of the elements... others could be the finish (macro shots), quality of materials, waterproofing, etc. 😉
I recommend Channel "Tempo e Misura" from Marco Beltrandi on Youtube. It's in Italian, however his reviews are very relevant with lots of technical details and it is without compromise / sponsors ! Well worth it !

It seems that the guy is repeating official, marketing information and rarely has watches in his hands. He certainly does not test watches.
Yes you are right he does not hold the watches in hand (most of the times), however he would not hesistate to say that he dislikes this or that watch and that it is not worth it technically.

In my experience, a Timegrapher is the best way to know when a watch needs servicing. (I also take mine with me when I go to buy a second-hand watch face-to-face. [Please notice the clever play on words.])
