Horological Meandering

Weight, the forgotten truth

Since i follow the Olympic games in Tokyo,
me as a watch bully focussed what the sportsmen and sport women wear on their wrist on their journey to an Olympic medal.

Omega is the big time partner.
It is all about weight and RM is the watch that is very light.
A Bulgari Octo Finissimo is light.
But what to think about Omega, the big time partner?
What is their lightest watch?
Why do they not compete for the lightest watch?

Every pound must be carried by atletes, while every pound counts.
We know the professional biking personality Julian Alla Philippe wear a RM, and tennis player Rafael Nadal wear RM.

When you weight the watches mhz, than we the community must find out why Omega is not making the lightest watch.

Other light weight watches with a comfortable fit is top for professional sports people?
Not only the ultra expensive brands, i want to know the accessible watches for every sports man and woman.
A Casio G-Shock is light i know, but i wil not forget the people who’ve got taste also.

It is indeed

A little strange that omega doesn't have an ultra-light watch in their range, given how many of their brand ambassadors are sportsmen, and how many sporting events they sponsor. I am a big tennis fan, so my knowledge of the watches of sportsmen starts and ends there. Still, I can say that there are plenty of tennis players who wear their sponsor's traditionally-heavy watches on the court. For instance, Stan Wawrinka, 3-time grand slam winner, wears a royal oak offshore. So perhaps some athletes just don't mind the weight.

I remember this

I surf on the Omega website from time to time.
There is a light Omega luxury watch on their catalog.
I think it is a special Aqua Terra that is limited and…. very expensive.
Not great for the big public who can not get their hands on such a watch.
Rich atletes can get that watch. But i am waiting to see one.
RM’s, i see one high jumper from Qatar who had a RM on his wrist.

Tennis, that is a special area when sport meets watches.
The strong strikes, back hands, services, slides, rallies,
shakes. Quartz is sensitive because tennis is a world of money, status and prestige. Automatic is sensitive because of the delicate parts in the watch.
Roger Federer put his Rolex always in his sport bag when he goes to the centercourt.
Serena Williams keep her AP on when hit the ball.

An interesting subject.

IMO, Weight is an important factor.....

Mostly not listed in a watch's measurements.
