I share this vintage art deco Mavado bought at auction for very little money a few years ago because it is powered by a cal 150 movement. I wanted to cannibalise it for a part or more for my beautiful wg-cased, vintage Mavado so I paid little attention to the watch shown here. I am aware this watch has had its vertically brushed silvered dial repainted, the crystal replaced, also a new crown and probably the hands with a recent service at someone else's great expense, so the watch was put away for the while. The case is curved back, all silver with worn decorated sides, is small at maximum 29mm x 37mm and the strap is very worn. Not water nor dust resistance, this is not a watch I would contemplate wearing.
In conversation yesterday with friends I polished off the slight tarnish, wound, set and wore the watch. To my surprise this watch is running very well and it has gained only 3 seconds during the last 24 hours of continuous wear! Maybe I should allow this watch to live a while and also replace the open-ended strap for some wrist time after all?!

No story other than said above but it was one of two vintage Mavados I had bought at the same auction for the cal 150 parts. The other is a Marine from 1942 with an inscription on the back, 30mm case, which does have a story I discovered on the internet. The Marine is also a good time-keeping one but now needs a new mainspring. Below is my wg favourite and although running, needs a new regulator index, which I found NOS after I had bought the two mentioned above! That's life!
By the way I have just ordered a new strap for the watch with the "funky" numbers.
