It is not often we find a watch that we are so besotted with and we all have different tastes! The Breguet Marine sounds like the love of your life and that's wonderful because many of us are still in serach of that elusive watch. Go send it for plastic surgery if you feel that will make you even happier. I love things in their original condition so I would just continue to admire the watch the way it was made. But hey, if you want to bespoke your watch and your watchmaker sounds like he is game, go for it!!!

Just think... if your guy is really that good, when you submit your watch to Breguet for servicing, the watchmaker will be confused because your watch looks TOO good! Has that EVER happened before? I bet not! LOL.
To take it a step further... imagine if your guy could sculpt custom hands a la R.W. Smith, McGonigle, Viot, etc., etc.!!! If he could do that I think I might need his contract info as well.😜

You really think it's "modding"? All that is happening is the finishing is improving. That's it. In what way would you say the beauty of the watch is lessened?
I peronally believe that the independents are producing a piece of art
First, I totally respect the owners ability to do anything they want. They own it and can do whatever they want to it.
To me, the independents differ from the big players in that a single individual or small team design and build each watch to create a statement. It is a piece of art that should be accepted in its entirety. Many give you options to personalize it, but it is done under the umbrella of the designers original concepts and the designer believes it still represents the original statement. To take a watch and make physical changes changes the original design and is no longer the brand/model that was originally acquired. Can you imagine what resale value of the watch would be? If I don't care for a particular feature of a watch, I simply don't buy it and move on. Or, contact the maker and ask if it can be made the way I want it.
Like I said, everyone here has a right to do whatever they wish with their watch. Me, I always feel a bond with the maker and wouldn't dream of changing their art.
Please correct me if you believe I am not thinking through this correctly.

Good comments, but maybe not in this case!
The resale value is exactly the same. Think about that. You might have to read my original post again to see why that is the case. The model remains exactly the same. Breguet is not an independant, but I would consider the same treatment for a lower-end independant.
