I just know that it’s a hand winding watch. But let me see (he’s going to bring me the watch), if I can take it to my watchmaker, You know Im not a rolex fan.
Hello Alejandro!! There is something which you should look here...

... Oyster Perpetual means it has a waterproof case (Oyster) and Perpetual denotes an automatic movement. The Datejust has always been an automatic model never offered with a manual wind movement.
If your friend says it has a manual movement something is wrong: the movement has been changed or modified.
If you check between the lugs you´ll find the model/reference number (also inside case back) and its serial number and this can tell us more about this watch which looks like it has been polished too.
Keep us posted when you have the watch on your hands! Cheers! Abel

I knew it, something was wrong. He just bought it and ask me if it could be a handwinding Watch, I said that I wasn’t sure but as you say “perpetual” means automatic. I really appreciate your precise and very helpful information. Thanks again Abel.
My big pleasure Alejandro. I’m glad to be if help though...

... in this case this would mean bad news for your friend. It would be interesting to view the movement to see if it is original and if it can be restored to the self winding condition without a big expense to justify it or may be it only needs a complete dismount, cleaning and lubrication. Only by examining by a pro watchmaker he will know for sure. Keep us posted! All the best! Abel
