Hands-on with another lesser known world time watch - Louis Vuitton Escale Time Zone!
Hi fellow PuristS!
So, was out and about on a nice Friday with my partner and we thought we should have a look at the available-at-boutique-only LV watches.
More specifically, the Escale Worldtime/Time Zone, as I am a big world time complication watch fan.
The service was tip-top! The ladies greeted us and proceeded to take the piece from within their safe (not sure why they didn't display this beautiful piece).
The last piece available in store was in rose gold and came in its sealed plastic wrapping. Not a big fan of gold pieces YET (still have no affinity as a young man myself :P), so I thought it was okay just to check it out with the packaging intact. Had a rough idea of the dimension and thought was quite nice.
The ladies then insisted on removing it from the sealed packaging. :O They were genuinely excited to show me the piece in all its glory! Really pleasantly surprised by their enthusiasm and quite different service from some snobbish watch chain.
So, here goes the piece:
With a little photo-editing, which the result proves to be redundant on such gorgeous piece!
Got to understand that the piece is fabricated in Geneve, but there is so little know about the manufacture. So, if any PuristS have any information about it, looking forward to read them!

I am also a big fan of world time watches, and this one intrigued me a lot.
What I love, and which is unique to this watch, is the way the time is displayed through the hours and minutes " hands " a bit like a vintage JLC Mystery / Galaxy.
Now the dial is colorful, to say the least. It will please, or not, or the risk is that you get rid of it quite quickly... Or not.
I know anything about the movement, I must say, and never had the opportunity to see one live. Something I have to do, because, as I said, this watch intrigues me lot.

I thought the colours captured me even more in person than on my comp monitor!
but my partner has the opposite sentiment: she thought the radiant colours to be too dazzling and cause it to be difficult to read.
would definitely hope someone can share something interesting about the movement, especially when they claim it's a manufacture movement. waiting for your discovery, Nicolas!

Tried the SS version
Love the creative approach and parade of colors, but somehow left me feeling indifferent. Perhaps the darkness to the dial muted the colors for me (not that this is a design mistake). I won't buy it, but if I had 20 watches this would be in it for its uniqueness. I think designer brands like LV are perfect for these novelties. Seems more appropriate than trying to compete with JLCs and GOs
mmmh, interesting view, which was quite different from mine. Maybe the lighting in the boutique I visited was strategic
the rose gold piece was very radiant, and the grey, shimmery dial brought out the printed dial to its full character, which I was captivated by. Would be nice to have a chance to compare them side by side.

Then again, I thought the Orbis Terrarum, especially the 4810 version with its rainbow dial, and the new VC Overseas WT variants were interesting WT pieces displaying some fun in the otherwise muted design of the entire WT watch universe!

Quite honestly I think this is one of the beautiful non traditional designs in a long time. I think the white gold one is better, but not 7 times. [nt]

and a different approach, which I do not understand why it is not more popular.
