Horological Meandering

My Oris Carl Brashear L.E. has a new strap and I wanted to take some pictures. I've chosen a strap from the Italian manufacturer Morellato: it's made of anallergic nautical leather, water resistant guaranteed. Now, it's mandatory to try it swimming at the sea, and I'll let you know...

In Italy, we have a specific name for its turquoise hue: "carta da zucchero" (sugar paper). I don't know the origin of this very nice name.

The white stiching probably ins't perfect, but I don't know if it's easy to change it. In this case, I'd probably go for a golden one.

Of course, the strap has the right size for the buckle too, since I can't imagine to wear my Oris without its original bronze one.

Have you ever considered a NATO strap?

- In general, I rarely appreciate how a NATO strap look;
- In general, I try to avoid too trendy solutions (yes, my fault, I'm sorry);
- I find them not so comfortable;
- I don't like their lightness;
- I want to see the beautifully engraved back and the "special" number of my watch;
- I want to keep the original bronze buckle and I find aesthetically inappropriate the steel rings of NATO straps;
- It's not easy to find 21 mm. NATO straps and a 22 mm. one absolutely doesn't look good, at least in my opinion.

These are the reasons why I have been hesitating to buy a NATO strap so far.

But my Oris is longing for water!!!

Perhaps I will search for a similar solution like your beautiful strap. Are they also available in alternative colours? I'm looking for something different to the actual "Brashear strap".

I'm sure you will find the right colour for you. After all, various strap maker use water resistant "nautical leather", not only Morellato.

Please let me know, when your CB gets in contact with the sea.
