Good day Purists...

I've a dilemma... that is my collection since last 3 years i was bitten by the horological bug ;-)

now i feel i've to get out the Rolex Explorer 214270 and Omega De Ville Orbis Hour Vision to move on to next steps...

I've Vacheron-Constantin PATRIMONY 81180/000J-9118 and A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Thin 211.026 in my mind. I also have an affinity to FP Journe Chronomètre Bleu and Speake-Marin resilience also interests me.

Would you advise ?

Longines Diver No date was my start point and I wouldn't part with it any time (i was searching for a No-date version and located it in Harleem, Netherlands - got it shipped to Bkk).

However the Saxonia thin is, ahem thin to balance the smaller diameter.
The 1815 to me has a perfect diameter that will never go out in style. It is a Classic diameter at the 38-39mm range and I truly believe that is the sweet spot in size. The thickness is well proportioned to the diameter.
I own a FPJ Bleu as well and can also recommended that watch. The tantalum is extremely durable, you get an independent design, and excellent movement finish.

as i was sharing with SC16, i tried all today - ALS1815 & FPJ CB is the final choice (my wife finds these 2 are natural choice).
for sure Saxonia is meek against ALS1815 !

Lange, because even if you think it's the wrong decision; you'll feel no financial loss if you decide to buy another option in your list. And AL&S is a blue chip purist brand who make every part in house.

It seems your main interest is 2 hand watches whilst 3 hand watches has gained your interest.

Have you wore any of the watches that you mention already? I think that is key in your current moment as it seems you have decided on the ones mentioned by yourself. ....If you have not wore them, I urge you to go and wear them and take a good look at them while on your wrist. After that, you go back after one week and then again wear them. If possible, try the watches at one dealer so you have them all next to each other (i know that is going to be difficult with Journe and Speake).

Some of our fellow members have already mentioned the 1815 which is a great watch but I am biased in my opinion since I have one and if you were in the market for it , imho you would have mentioned that one.

SIHH has the new saxonia thin coming out and that looks amazing as it has an even cleaner deal than the previous version. I have tried the VC Patrimony Traditionelle small seconds and that is a beautiful watch with a beautiful and easy to maintain movement.

However, when I put an 1815 Up/down on the wrist with the VC, the Lange was the one that jumped out...the VC was designated any regular watch I have come across...i don't know why.... maybe a feeling. I am aware they are totally different (also in price), but still. BTW, I did not buy the up/down as well.

FP journe is also beautiful, but i have not worn one..... I have read that the blue dial is amazing...Hodinkee has an interesting article in which they compare the Journe Bleu, Saxonia and the VC I mention. Not that it will make your choice easier, but it will give you some idea why people like these watches.

In the choices you mention, I would go for the Saxonia over the VC. I can't comment on the Journe or Speake.

for a reason i don't know, i have a pref. to watches with no-date window & if possible a 2 hand one (except if it is hi-beat).
i tried VC patrimony, AL&S saxonia, 1815 & also a JLC Master Ultra Thin 1907. I'm more convinced on AL&S (I like VC too but miss the sapphire case back).
I've not tried on wrist the FP Journe CB, but i can say that - than the dial the movement pictures attracted me more.
I think i would visit AD to try couple of more times to see where my heart goes...

i was trying all watches today...
my wife told "i don't understand why you have trouble in choosing; go for ALS1815 and FP Journe CB, forget about VC & Saxonia"
in her perspective, seems to be a straight forward choice

But never in ours (is it a straight forward choice)...hahaha.
In my view you have a supporter who helps you decide. That's great.

But unless you've simply lost love for a current piece, I'd hold my ground. Once you start selling to buy, you risk uttering the words, "I use to have one," "I wish I stll had that," or "I regret getting rid of that one."

Been there and sellers remorse is not a nice feeling. Better to build on..

Yeah...i see your point valid & wonderfully mentioned 'There's no instant gratification and the journey is arduous'
in practical sense i think my collection shouldn't be over 5 watches, so at a point i've to go through selling.

Thanks Todd...but i think i would need to have a 'handful' (now this is the next dilemma) so i enjoy wearing all of my collection regularly...

and I have tried the Saxonia Thin several times. Somehow it is lacking something. The 1815 on the other hand is such a joy. I also own a FP Journe CS. And I would have probably gotten the Chronmetre Bleu instead of the CS had I seen them side by side. The dial of the CB is mesmerizing.

I agree Ian, i tried y'day both AL&S. 1815 has a graceful edge over Saxonia - true.
on FPJourne CB, i'm planning to try it on wrist - i like the pic of the movement, it is quite fascinating...
