We will see how the blue "ages" with me -- I've had a couple of blue-dialed watches in the past, but tired of them over time.  I suspect this may be the exception to the rule!

Gary - you have really got it down!

This is the difference between depth & feeling vs. crisp & contrasty.

In some way it reminds me  of  a superior portrait lens,  an old Leica Summicron f:50 mm connected to an M3 or whatever bayonette its followers could take. 

Even though  f:90 to f:110 work better for head shots.

Later they made it crisp & contrasty,  as did Zeiss for their Contax models  - their earlier lenses were also a dream of soft resolution, often exceeding the capacity of the photograpic materials avaiable then - and later for Nikon and the other brands that soon followed from Japan. 

These optical constructions were not intended for reflex cameras, and unavailable to the general public in pre-war times. 

Crisp & Contrasty  were better suited for reproduction in the printed media of the time, as well as  Kodachrome for dias, than for hand-made prints  from a darkroom, pressed by myself from materials that contained no plastic. That is passion!

Rather than being well aware of the fact  that the old days are gone forever - and trying to come to terms with digital photograpy - I much prefer to enjoy your photos of a very nice watch!

With "depth of field"  - depth of feel?

I have been wearing mine basically non stop for the past 2 or so weeks.  Absolutely love it, the blue is even more incredible in person.  I just put on a new strap...take a look!

The watch looks great on you, and that strap is striking indeed -- puts me in mind of our own Andrew L. and his orange obsession, to be sure!

I return again and again in my small collection to my blue dialed Habring2.  Now that I've seen the new design of the dial (with the numbers within a circle), I'm tempted to add and the Dopplechronograph would be interesting.  Speaking as a NY Yankees fan, that blue and orange strap, though..... Rather looking like a Mets strap.....

Thanks so much for your post.  Since I saw one of these at the GTG in Los Angeles last weekend, I cannot get it out of my mind.  In particular, the Habring Foudroyante.  I have pretty much decided this will be my next watch.  Going to take a very close look at one on Monday.  Very excited.

... my new piece.  Foudroyante with silver rhodiated dial and all the hands in black, black leather strap with white piping.  This marks my voyage into the AHCI world, and I couldn't be more excited!
