We can take this off-line (the 10 of us, he he he), but I want to get some strap ideas.  Love the salmon, but it is too long for me and I want to get a couple of others.

I saw the stingray in the original thread and think it looks good but it is not my style.

I am thinking a black and grey shark would look good, also black calf with titanium colored stitching.  Perhaps a nato?

If anyone has a recommendation, and or a recommended merchant for such a strap, please PM me. 

Any thoughts are appreciated by owners and others that just want to share.  I am not a PAM owner, but I bet those guys have a lot of strap experience and ideas.

And yes, I am happy with the watch.  It is just how I imagined it and quite comfortable on the wrist. I always wanted a Gerber and I am long time, non-posting purist that is proud of the association if not too active here.  Great site, great watch. 

Now just a new strap and all will be perfectly perfect.

Somehow, I do not see this watch with a nato strap, I consider that it needs something a tad more elegant.

Another one of us receiving the Gerber!

I've been thinking about straps too, but my reason is not because of the length. It's more that I would want to wear the watch more often but didn't want to spoil such a unique strap, so it'll stay with the box.

A couple ideas I've thought about:
- a rubber strap, but a very nice one. I have yet to find one. I think a rubber strap would work well with a Ti watch. However, I wanted one shaped to the lug, which would be difficult.
- a buffalo strap, buffalo should be relatively hard-wearing?
- a carbon fibre strap, should also work well with a Ti watch

I agree with George this watch may not suit the Nato strap.

Just my 2c. Now my wait for the Fedex man continue...

I suspect that the choice of replacement strap for the salmon leather original is lightness as well as colour match.

A titanium watch with a heavy strap would be illogical but just acceptable.  It is better than a light strap with a heavy platinum or tantalum watch that slips about.

bearing in mind the 'aviator' style of the original Model 42, maybe a simple thin strap in calf leather or rubber would be nice.  preferably in titanium grey but black will do.

And I agree that a replacement would be best if it fit the original set-up / intention of the watch. 

I'm going to stay with the Salmon for a while. It's good to be different every now and then.

There is part of me that wants to presere it just because it is unique, but honestly I am only getting a new strap because my slimer wrist requires it.

Enjoy your P-10 1.0 as I seek to create my own 1.5 version.

I went through my strap box and also set a couple watches under the Gerber (only a couple straps swapped in reality )

Gerber factory-issue Salmon Skin strap (makes me want a salmon skin roll down at the sushi place) It's almost too long for me; I'm on next-to-last hole

Dark green-grey ostrich looks very nice. Too bad it's 19mm or I'd have it on right now

MIH watch rubber strap fits perfectly (Paul builds this watch; although the lugs are very different they have the same gap) and for fun, a Sinn ti bracelet

Silberstein bracelet with interspersed shiny and matt links brings out the contrasts on the Gerber too

Trial run on the shark, just for fun. Too bad this is a 20mm strap, not 22 as needed. But it works

Shark or ostrich get my vote. If  you want rubber, perhaps you could order an MIH strap from Paul or Beat. It comes in 2 different lengths (get short one)
