I'm a great fan of De Bethune... especially of the classic watches of the collection (DB 15 & DB 25). Trouble is that the other ones start to seduce me !

A De Bethune caliber is always unique in the horological industry and a proof that Denis Flageollet is one of the most gifted watchmakers.

We had the opportunity to browse almost all the collection at William & Son. We would like to thank the whole team from De Bethune (including Zanetta's son) for the time they spent with us and for the clear explanations.

I am clearly in favour of the simple Ti DB 25 and the spectacular and cool DB 26. The Dream series is a bit too much for my taste in spite of the enormous efforts behind them.

a friend of mine, who appreciates watches, but cant afford to start collecting mentioned something i hadnt considered. he looked at my pics of the De Bethunes and said that the Crown didnt match the simplicity of the cases and looked out of place. does anyone have any thoughts on the crown?

I actually don't find the cases to exhibit simplicity.  The cases, while not excessively adorned, show hallmarks of a studied complexity -- see for example, the often asymmetrical placement of the lugs and their unique diaphanous shape.  These design elements don't craft a message of simplicity IMO.  So, to my mind, the sculptural, textured crown is a harmonious complement to the case, as opposed to an element in direct confrontation with it.  Of course, these assessments are always subjective, so your friend's reaction to the De Bethune collection is equally valid.

Until recently, I thought it would be the DB15 (perpetual calendar) but now, I'm ready to change my mind.

I've seen a black dial DBS and I can't forget it !
