Looking at Hodinkee's wrist shot, it certainly looks like the sapphire crystals add to the 10.49 mm thickness. Would need confirmation on that. Even if it's 13 mm thick, it's still nicely compact and wearable. I'd like to see watchmaking continue in this direction.
In my opinion, Gruebel Forsey has found a successful style for a contemporary high end chronograph. It's a bit more laid-back than the Gronograaf, which will make it a bit easier to wear casually. The crowding of the functions between 4 and 9 o'clock gives it a strange balance that isn't present in other daring designs.
I think the Gronograaf is more attractive, still a standard bearer for high end chronographs, but I'd feel more comfortable wearing this one out and about on the weekend.
In conclusion, I find it impressive, but less than perfect.
