Ah, this Pierre Arpels is so cool
Actually amazing that Pierre Arpels designed the case in 1949, for the time-only model, that he had created for himself.
It still looks so stunning, especially in this 42mm size.
The caliber is one of the sexiest looking movements that I have seen during the last few years.

The watch is also available in a more straight forward case in pink gold.

I've had my Van Cleef & Arpels Pierre Arpels Heure d'Ici & Heure d'Ailleurs (Pronounced something like—"Air D.C. ett air dayer") about 4 years now, and can attest to its unique character. The dial and back are both stare-worthy, and just plain fun. The movement by Agenhor, SA is calibre AGH-6029, 48 hour reserve, 21600 so/hr is wound backwards, while setting the time involves one click for minute and hour setting for both jump windows and another click for just the bottom ('elsewhere') window. While 42mm sounds huge, it wears small. If you're used to an analog dial, you have to get used to the minutes running from about 5:30 to 11:00. Unlike the originals, this VC&A does not have a Piaget movement nor even a Piaget base. Jean-Marc Wiederrecht considered the specs by Van Cleef & Arpels, and realized quickly that there was no way to add a module on top of a Piaget and create an automatic, dual-TZ and thin gentlemen's watch—so he devised the unique AGH-6029 with the platinum micro-rotor and the dual jumping hours. In white gold with a diamond atop the crown, it is a watch that Pierre Arpels would heartedly approve. (BTW—instead of the original 31,500 CHF price, the MSRP is now $27,000.)
