I actually do not like most of MOP for men, this one has happened to cross my way (5 years ago) and still has me mesmerised by its beauty.
The octa calendrier is the first Journe model that caught my attention when starting my horological journey, I like very much the design which I can agree is rather polarising.

Interesting Walter. Why is this "not FPJ"? It would seem that FPJ have produced a large number of MOP dialed watches, and so it seems to the contrary that MOP is perhaps "very FPJ".

I would agree that many executions of MOP by other brands can be somewhat feminine, ALS is a good example of this. However I've never had this same thought about FPJ.

FPJ for me is the closest living watchartist to Abraham Louis Breguet. The estetic of his watches, movements dont need MOP dials. It´s even negativ because it distracts. He created watches who makes him immortal. The design of his watches is unique. I am a great fan of of FPJ, but i am too poor to buy one. 

I have great respect for the work of FPJ and i wish him all the best with CHANEL. I think this is a great deal for him who takes him further, because allone he cannot survive in this shark tank.

Generally i agree with you, i dont want MOP on Lange, Rolex, Patek and all other brands, and i think this is reserved for women watches. Already the name, MOTHER OF PEARL is not very masculin.

I hope you accept my opinon and if not we stay friends. Best Walter

I understand that the dial design of FPJ in many cases is easily identifiable as FPJ, and it’s a strong design language that carries through most of the collection.  And so, to your point, why distract from that. I understand this view.

For me, I really like the character MOP brings to the dial.  The play with the light, it is not too dissimilar to what people love about the Chrono Bleu.  

I think MOP works with FPJ, it doesn’t distract in my opinion, whereas with many other brands it just doesn’t seem to be a good combination and definitely becomes the star attraction.  

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.  The reason we are here is to do just that and it’d be pretty boring if we all liked the same things!!
