I was glad to see this year that the brand Speake-Marin seems to be getting back on it's feet, even though they no longer have any connection with Peter. Speake-Marin has had some hard years recently with lots of questionable models, but I liked what I saw this time. For example: the OneandTwo, a new three hand automatic watch with micro-rotor winding. Only the seconds hand has the luxury of having a dial, but we have the luxury of an open and inviting movement below the hands. A very attractive watch, my favorite of the SIHH 2018
The London Chronographs based on NOS Valjoux 92 movements that Speake-Marin as newly decorated and assembled.
And of course the Crazy Skulls tourbillon minute repeater.
Here we see the double tourbillon version 2017, but wait 'til you see the version 2018 below.
Regarding the OneandTwo, I much prefer the backside rather than the front one.

The cutting of bridges is very charming and with their finishing, that makes me think to a fold of fabric. Very nice. Another detail i like a lot is the distinctive emblem of PSM at the back of the micro rotor.
Pity that Peter did not stay. I think with him as a consultant would be very important for the brand. I don't really like new releases actually. Feel like they have departed too much from Peter's aesthetics to try to be like other brands. I rather hope they focus on developing their serpent calendar and spirit lines. And definitely they should retain the iconic picadilly case rather than try to make the straight lugs less pronounced. I dont think it will happen, but I hope Peter returns to the company one day.
The first pieces are actually visually very appealing.
One question on the London Chronograph, the quality of the finishing looks very low from the pictures... is this a prototype or are they better in person than in the pictures?
I also am sad to see the brand with Peters departure, but it is still keeping the name going and hope they go in the right direction.
