Vacheron Constantin

Vacheron Constantin has been doing very exciting, innovative guilloche work recently in their Metiers d'Art  collection, especially with the "Fish" dial inspired by M.C. Escher in the new Univers Infinis collection:

And back in 2005 with the 250th Anniversary collection (this is the Jubile 1755):

I even like the bold striped pattern in the Historiques Aronde 1954, which while simple, is beautiful:



What I would like to see is an exciting new guilloche pattern in a core production product (ie- Patrimony), similar in spirit to what Breguet has started to produce for some of their Classique collection timepieces.

Funny that you posted a photo of the Fish Metiers d'Art to start the thread.  For some unknown reason, that watch has suddenly been on my mind very recently.  It is an exquisite piece and my favorite of the trio announced this year.  I hope I get a chance to see one outside of a glass case someday .  Although, perhaps it is best that I do not get such an opportunity.

It really is beautiful AND is a watch that I can actually see myself wearing.  It goes great with a Navy or Grey suit!

If you didn't already know, I shouldn't be telling/tempting you like this, you can buy these individually.  You don't have to get all 3 in a set.

It is a gorgeous watch, indeed.  It is good of VC to offer them for sale individually, but even the price of one of these is beyond my means.  

as well as the set of three Univers Infinis watches side by side.  Seeing them again confirmed for me that the Fish is still my favorite of the three. It would be a tough call between the Fish and one of those Chagall pieces, however, as I am a fan of opera, and the "Mozart" Chagall watch on dispay was gorgeous.

Well, each Chagall is unique, so I think one of these would be my choice assuming I could afford the much higher price tag, which I can't.  :-(

But the Fish watch does seem more wearable to me.  I did noticie that it is a bit difficult to read the time on all three Univers Infinite pieces, but really with that kind of art on the wrist, who cares what time it is?

It was simply amazing to see the Chagalls and the Univers Infinite pieces, among many other astounding examples of VC's finest work, in one place.  I guess Mr. Torres travels with whichever watches he wishes.  I did not get a chance to see what he was wearing, by the way...

Hi Bill.

as both the Contemporaine and the Traditionnelle lines have distinct codes for the design of the dial, and it is hard to imagine a guilloche pattern being worked into either model. Still, it would be nice to see a round watch with a guilloche dial that doesn't cost $100K.
