Vacheron Constantin

One of the best parts about the autumn (other than football! ), is that the watches introduced at SIHH in January start to show up at retailers. Today I saw the first Historiques Aronde 1954 to arrive. It is even nicer than I recall!


Vacheron Constantin gave us a wonderful set of novelties this year, but I think the World Time and the Aronde 1954 are my favorites.

I saw several the World Time several times, and wasn't impressed, but this Aronde, I need to see it once again.

I love a lot the shape of the case, very " my cup of tea " while I am not, a first impression, impressed by the dial, but it may change...

A pity the white metal version is exclusive to the Japanese market...

The October issue of WatchTime has a great article on the Classical Revival in watch designs.  They referenced VC's 1955 and 1968 Ultra-fines and the Aronde, as well as new-old designs by Omega, Zenith, Piaget, JLC, AL&S, Parmigiani and AP.  Unfortunately, a picture of "Lips" wasn't included, as it would have been the sexiest of the bunch!

That is a very conclusive VC, indeed.

Case dimensions are very well proportioned, as one can see on foversta's picture from the VC Salon QP

report, where Mr Gothbi is sporting it.

This is how you do it: presence without going into extreme case sizes!

Have to see it to judge it fully, but a very, very nice VC on pictures.

A slight "bitter note" is the usage of the 1400 instead of the more power reserve offering 4400.

Having said that, the 1400 s should also come with a shock absorber for the anchor wheel (?), which

is a very good deal.

The dial is simply magnifique!

Bravo VC.

The more I see it in photos, the more I like it. Now that I know there is a white metal version, I am eager to see that one as well and to try one of these babies on. Not sure I could favor this over the 1968, but it is...very sexy.

It is kind of amazing what VC released this year, right?

made for the Japanese market. It is not current or standard production, though it could some day become such.

Personally, I like textured dials best when partnered with either yellow gold or rose gold cases.
