Lemania is owned by Swatch, so is it accurate to say that Vacheron won't be able to source these kits after 2010? When the supply stops, where will they source the chronographs? Perhaps they'll order them already finished? m
The Swatch Group is going to stop selling kits....

Hi,
AFAIK the Swatch Group is going to stop selling kits to everybody, but not to stop to sell completed calibres (what VC gets from Lermania, that's what was said to us in 2005 when we visited VC).
Furthermore Lemania is not ETA and Lemania has contracts with brands that will last after 2010 quite probably, specially for finished and assembled calibres.
The Lemania movement was also used in the Chrono Perpetual and was also used by Patek I believe in their 3970. I'm not sure if VC used it in the newer version of their platinum Chrono Perpetual. VC claims that they are slowly moving to in-house movements in all their watches, likely over the next few years. To my knowledge, they never used an ETA movement. JB
VC has never used an ETA movement in one of its watches. If you have seen one then the watch is fake.
VC still uses the Lemania chronograph caliber in it's manual winding chronographs. It also uses the Piguet 1185 caliber in its automatic chronographs, adding a big date.
VC also uses JLC calibers in its Great Explorer watches, Retrograding perpetual calendar watch, Overseas automatic, and Overseas and Malte Tonneau Dual Time watches.
