This is the 6405, and my favorite detail is the coin edge along the bezel.






With bezel's bearing the brunt of trauma from daily wear, I was lucky that this model was so clean!

not shown is the engraved case back, which showed that the watch was given as a gift for 25 year of employment at Swingline, the stapler company.

Please raise your hand if you've ever received a nice watch from your company for long-term employment!

I received a POS Seiko "gold-tone" quartz watch for 25 years and wish they would have kept it :-(  OTOH, the V&C aluminum watch was a fitting and respectful recognition of loyalty from Alcan, as was the 1/4Century Rolex by Eatons Department Store.  What does this say about modern corporate recognition?

Is it new to your wrist?  This is a bit smaller than your 4538  XXL, but it is so elegant.  I admire the coin edge bezel as well.   I really like the use of negative space on this dial.  The indices are given a lot of blank space surrounding them.  It has a very pure and clean look.  Such a nice example of mid-century V&C.

It has a caliber 1001, correct? What do you think about the caliber 1001 v. cal. 1003? 

How about a wrist shot?

Well, I do not have a watch given to me to commemorate years of service at a company, but I will raise my hand anyway with one of my favorite vintage watches. This is my Chronometre Royal ref. 6107 from 1957.

There is nothing like the classic 18k gold swiss watch to send you on your way to retirement. This one is signed "A Nestor Suizo En Sus 25 Anos Con Siam 1956".

It is just incredible that companies presented Vacheron & Constantin watches to their retiring employees.
There is so much to admire about your watch: the gorgeous huge lugs, the color of the dial, the rose gold case. It is just a lovely example of V&C at its best in the middle of the last century. Thanks for sharing this one.
