Hello all
I have just been UNitiated into the faith, having purchased the GMT perpetual 38.5mm watch. If Marcus is reading this, please note that I have read your review of this watch so many times I practically know it by rote! Was very tempted to get the now discontinued JLC Master perpetual, as I was getting close to 50% off the price, and from an authorised retailer! I went 3 times to see the watch, and each time I came home and re-read Marcus' review of the UN. Am so thrilled that I chose the UN even if it cost me twice what I would have paid for the JLC.
If there is anyone who has this watch, I have a question. Only today I realised that there are 2 small marks on the side of the case, between the top lugs. They do not look like blemishes, rather like something inscribed. I tried looking through a magnifying glass but still couldn't make sense of it. Is this something that i meant to be there, and if so, what does it signify?
Look forward to hearing from someone. Meanwhile I cannot stop looking at my wrist - now 7 days new.
Cheers
JT
But maybe some time ...Hi all, and thanks for the warm welcome to the UN forum. I have uploaded some poor quality images, given the lask of amacro lens..
Marcus - being the traditionalist, I chose the yellow gold/silver dial, and the more I see the watch and think of this choice, the more convinced I am that I made the right decision. Have tried hard to use the hack feature as per your suggestion, but cannot seem to get the seconds hand to stop. Nevertheless, I have been checking against the digital clock in the car, and it is bang on for the last 5 days. The last image is the mark I mentioned in my earlier post.
I have only noticed one issue - I cannot easily pull the crown out to the setting/level that I want - it goes straight to the final setting. If I want to use the quick set, it's a real chore to get the crown at the right pull-out level. Oh yes, one more thing that I found out only after making the purchase - my first trip (and chance to use the GMT function) - is to India tomorrow, and India is a peculiar 5 and a half hours ahead of GMT. Which means I cannot get the home time in Malaysia to read correctly.
Anyway, absolutely no regrets. Love the watch and am so glad I chose it over the JLC and the Patek.
Cheers
JT
