I cannot, for the life of me, remove the strap though! Can anyone help?

The Sonata has been on my “grail” list of watches for almost a decade. I am over the moon that I have finally achieved it!
I went with the more “modern” Streamline as I really love the case work. It is a bit big but wears very comfortably!

Regarding the strap change
I searched the forums and the Bergeon tool was mention once. I supposed with the “integrated” ends I need a Bergson in the same way one would remove a Rolex bracelet??

Yes!
They are not curved end straps but almost have an “end piece” like on Rolex models. And it seems like the spring bars need a very small piler to grip it. My two tools can’t grip the spring bar shoulders at all.
The UN strap system looks very nice. And it fits “OK” on my wrist. But with this larger piece, I want to get an aftermarket curved end strap that allows the strap to actually bend at the spring bar so as to fit my wrist better. But with a curved end so as not to loose the integrated look so much.

Functionality and looks are tops. But as it is a very large watch, wearability can be affected a bit. After wearing it for a few days, I would switch to one of my smaller watches for a few days. Still love it and over the moon about it though!
Are you thinking of getting one? Prices are very decent on the secondary market. I still think the design here trumps the current Sonata.

agreed, its a bargain on the secondary market! i'm between the UN and the Blancpain Leman Alarm which is 40mm...

You can’t compare the Sonata to the BP. The BP is a very nice looking watch but the hammer and gong on the Sonata produces an alarm sound that is almost like minute repeater.

I also like the 24hr countdown on the Sonata… The big date is nice too for my aging eyes

There are lots of videos on YouTube. Once you have heard it, you will be hooked.
Agree it Is not loud enough to wake you up and to be honest, I would use my phone for that. The Sonata works really well as a “reminder” watch. Let’s say I need to make a call at a certain time or leave somewhere after a certain time. Fun and easy to use, wonderful on the ears!
