I alredy posted about new crystal 3 month ago.

moissanite(silicon carbide) crystal glass has very high hardness(60% harder than sappire)---advantage

and  I have found the graph about transmittance of moissanite crystal.

Is there anybody who can understand this graph???  please HELP ME ~~

you can see the UV area(ultra violet area),

I can see the UV area,  and it  is  0% transmittance.

It mean UV rays can not pass the moissanite crystal.   is it right ???????    pleause let me know ~~  help me~~

If I am right,  it is also very important advantage.!!!   because UV rays make dial color change.  and  UV is not good with oil....

last time,  nice friend told me advice  about moissanite crystal  color.!   

missanite has rightly color(green, brown)

so I  studied,  and I find the way to make color better.(pure white) 

there is the enhancement which is  HTHP(high temperature high pressure)

Regarding the discoloration due to uv light: we call it patina of the dial and mostly we find patina very attractive.
Another aspect of your introcuced glass is the hardness.
If you drop a sampphire glass watch, the glass can break.
The higher hardness of your glass means also thats it is more brittle.

crystal break or not......... it is the toughness..
moissanite is single crystal.      I know that moissanite crystal toughness is similar with sapphire.
If moissanite crystal toughness is worse, it is very disadvantage.~ I will study more thank you.~~

I also like patina color~  but there is many case which is not good looking (just my opinion)

Zero transmittance means all the wavelenght is absorbed, in this case UV spectrum.
The white moissanite is the best one amongst the 3 because the transmittance is stable and oscillates between 60% and 70% inside the visibile spectrum.

The graph shows the amount of light that gets through the material at the various wavelengths. It seems to show that white moissanite doesn't let any UV light through, but visible light does get through. The other lines are just different materials.

I don't know the degree of refraction for either, but if moissanite has more pronounced doubling than sapphire, or if the crystal growth doesn't allow for it to be cut at an angle that doesn't show the double refraction, it could be a problem.
I'm not a gem/mineralogist so I'm just speculating, but you should check it out.

You are right. moissanite has the double refraction.!! I already check.!! I think moissanite double refraction is not strong, i mean not big different with sapphire. so I think I can use by watch glass- just my opinion.!!
