Stratos Stiking 10th
Hi,
I recall reading about a limited version (1969 pieces) of the Stratos Striking 10th with the Tri-color dial. Then I saw a Stratos Striking 10th nicknamed the Felix B. tribute version which also has the Tri-color dial. I thought they were the same watch, but didn't see any indication online that the Felix B. version was limited. Could someone please help clarify whether they are the same watch or is there a limited version and an unlimited Felix B. version? If there are two versions, what are the differences between the two? Appreciate any feedback re this matter.
El Primero
Good question. The Limited Edition of 1969 pieces with the 3 colour counters you refer to is not a Stratos, but actually just the El Primero Striking 10th 42mm. This one also came in rose gold with dark grey counters limited to 500 pieces, and also platinum with the 3 colour counters limited to just 69 pieces. The 45.5mm El Primero Stratos Flyback Striking 10th Tribute to Felix Baumgartner is not limited.

Thanks Dean, at first I thought so too, until I read this article: http://www.ablogtowatch.com/zenith-el-primero-stratos-flyback-striking-10th-watch-hands-on/. That's what threw me off. I could be totally wrong, but I thought that the tri-color Stratos Striking 10th came out before the Felix "jump".

I didn't think the older model was a limited edition but maybe it was.
Some small differences on the dial and bezel from the FB model, and the older came on an aligator strap or bracelet whilst the FB comes in rubber or bracelet, but the main difference is the engraved caseback on the FB model. Which will you be getting? I ordered the FB model through an AD in London, and when I went to pick it up last week, they had one with black subdials waiting for me. They had got the serial numbers mixed up. So I left empty handed. Not easy to come by.

Can't Decide Now
I was hoping to get the limited version, but almost pulled the trigger on the FB version. Very nice looking. I ended holding off because the new El Primero 410 Limited and the Aeronef Type 20 Annual Calendar has also drawn my attention, but my budget is limited. What would you choose out of the ones I've listed? Would be interested in your take.

They are only available in Italy, but I am checking with Zenith China to see if they can get their hands on one for me but it is looking unlikely. A friend of mine and fellow Purist checked with Zenith HK and got a negative. If you can't get to Italy for one of these, then I would go for the Tribute to Felix Baumgartner. Great wrist presence. And the Striking 10th second hand is a joy to watch in action.

These are gorgeous
They were only announced a couple of weeks ago. They will be distributed through the larger AD's since there are no stand alone boutiques in Italy. You could try inquiring through Hausmann or Fanuele or Meloni Gioielle.
Good excuse for a trip to Rome though!

If I can't get one myself, I'll settle for getting the new blue tech-fabric straps, which are available for order the Zenith boutiques, for my Type 20's.
