This one came up out of my sudden, not expected at all, when I saw for sale, I only remember your previous post for this watch before and another I know this one looks cool and rare, then I went for it without further thought.

btw, find the leather strap somewhat does not really match with this classic and sporty watch, went to a watch shop today to see whether any bracelet can better fit with it, the watchmaker recommended to try the Rolex styled bracelet as its curve of the lugs can fit with the watch nicely, at the end i decided to buy it as the overall effect looks good to me! do you think so

. . . it's easy to see that you really like the latest addition to your collection.  Buying a new watch, and then immediately getting a matching bracelet, is always a good sign!

i have tried to open the caseback, but it is very tightly closed, but can't open it at all, sorry for no movement pics given! in fact, i am also keen to know what movement is inside!

The black capital "AUTOMATIC" was not a font I have known Zenith to use. How did the seller represent the dial? Original, refreshed, redialed?

The seller said the dial is original, I understand the dials of most other S.58 have slightly different layout as well as the font used for the automatic word. I have seen other owners also have the same dial and font as mine. I carefully examined the dial, the details of the dial, it doesn't look like it was refinished, redone, or repainted as they shows with very fine details. 

that i have in my image library (from these same fora in fact), but the dozen others are script. It will be interesting to see what is within. Regardless, if you got it where I think you did, it is a good buy.

According to Roessler, introduced in 1958 with a cal 120, intended to be used by the military. No military ever adopted it to my knowledge. Automatic model came out in 1960 with noticeable convexity to the dial to accomodate the additional thickness. If you bought from the person on the forum who posted it before, I know of no others with that font. Produced with both white and black dial. No idea regarding total numbers produced, etc.

I have a very similar version with the same font as the OP's example and certainly looks original to me. So maybe more than one version of the 'Automatic' font. There is so little information about the S.58 there can't have been many made. Cheers.

so not an ideal example to draw conclusions about authenticity from. We are also unfortunately very poor in catalogs from that era of Zenith, and the only advertisement that I know of is not of an automatic model. Still, good to take into consideration.

... Blomman previously posted one one adv that showed the manual wind model of S.58. But it is hard to take reference from it as we need to show the font used for "automatic"!

When I have a closer look between both our watches carefully, apart from the fonts used for "AUTOMATIC" being different, the fonts used for 12/6/9 are also different, e.g. mine are flated and bigger. Besides, another difference is that the hour markers are much closer to the edge of the bezel than that in yours. I guess both our watches are produced in slightly different periods provided mine is correct and original!
