As for the finishing matter, in regards of the price range, I would say I agree with you when the watch enters the PC's area but one could also say that T€. 27 is already a nice price tag.

Anyway, it remains very nicely finished compared to its competitors and regarding the "sporty" orientation.

I'll be very closely looking at what new Nautiluses models Patek will bring us in the next few weeks and especially next year

as this is (still) PP.

Recently, I saw the difference in Patek's quality again when I took my 5726 from the bank, after 1 month....because I was wearing my other watches.

I can hear a "wow" voice inside me, like the first time I held the watch during the purchase, under the sunlight...it just shines.

This contrast in feeling can only be noticeable after parting the Nautilus for a period of time, unless for those fortunate few who has many PPs or high end watches.

Great to see how you love and care for your 5712...I am also very that type of person.

You must be very happy of your 5726. It is a Nautilus I like a lot.

And is it balanced on the wrist or is the higher weight making the case move on your wrist ?

For sharing your thoughts with sincerity and objectivity, something really rare nowadays.

Personally, I don't have any problem with the bracelet size or the crown, but every wrists have a different shape and we maybe don't wear the watch the same way.

In fact, I was telling my strong preference for the 1A more for aesthetical reasons and the work needed rather than because it is what Sporty watch is about.

The curosr of the strap version is indeed a little less on the sporty side, thus, a little more dressy.

I couldn't find the post I answered someone not long ago about leather strap vs bracelet but this is how I would summuraize it.

I saw people in elegant suits during a cocktail wearing the WG strap version: it was very elegant and very well matching the suit outfit. So there is not problem about the fact the strap Nautilus is a perfect watch and not to be underestimated compared to bracelet.

However, the bracelet version would also be worn very well with a suit. I would say that a bracelet is less discreet and maybe for your work it might be good to prefer the strap.

Also, if I'm not wrong the 1A's dial is only available in blue whereas the strap's one is dark grey: maybe something you may study too.

Both choices are great. I prefer bracelet for the reasons I mentionned but the Strap version is not to be overlooked.

The piece of advice I would give you is to try them both several times at your AD and pick the one you personnaly like most.

With any of these, you won't make a mistake.

What do the senior partners in your law firm (or just about any law firm) wear while they're at the office?  If it's a watch in the Patek family I would think they'd wear the most simple, restrained, and uncomplicated Calatrava in a size 36 or 37mm size like a 5196g.  Not because they're older men from an earlier era when wrist watches were typically that smaller size... but because they want to convey a very reserved presentation to their customers, co-workers, bosses, etc.

Is a simple Calatrava 'too old' for a young man... maybe ;-) !  Just my thoughts.

I used to work at a law firm and my boss (owner) was very into watches. He had an AP Safari, a gold AP RO, a diamond Cartier and an IWC Portuguese. But yeh, I think it's important to them to wear something that shows status. 

You do not really need anything else.

Mark, thanks for your thoughts and especially for the awesome pictures, which go a long ways towards illustrating this classy watch in all its beauty. I'm a huge fan of the 5512 as I feel it has all the attributes of the 5711 and more. However, the 5512 isn't for everyone. I liken it somewhat to spicy food - a taste that requires a little zest for adventure and appreciation for extraordinary things.  Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with balance and symmetry. If that's what you're after in a watch, you have so many options, but this design is unique. When I wear mine, I'm mesmerized by it. It gives me a feeling that no other watch can replicate. About the only fault I can find with it, is that it's not a 3712. I've often thought of acquiring the original I love it that much. Who knows, maybe some day I will!

Concering the 3712 though, I think I would still rpefer the 5712, for two main reasons.

First, I prefer the curved sides (at 9 and 3)  of the case which match in a better way the curves of the watch. The Straight shape of the crowngard at 3 and hinge at 9 are not the right choice to me.

Secondly, It seems to me the bracelet's links are not finished the same well: side's bevelling are larger and thus less elegant to me and the links don't seem to be shaped the same way( rounder).

Furthermore, I noticed on pictures de stars on the moonphase disk are outlined with a plack paint. I find this is a heavier effect I don't like on that watch (better suited to classical models imho). I'm not sure this detail was on earlier or later versions...

Same goes concering the 3700, even if I prefer the thinner hands and markers on this one (and absence of second hand. It is more elegant and even "cleaner".
