Patek Philippe

Some might remember when I posted here more often but I guess I been lying low. Whats new ?. Well I decided to shrunk my collection. I went from 13 to 3. Of those 13 worthy mentions are: PP 5146g, PP 5712/1a, Lange Timezone, Lange Saxonia Thin, AP 15300, FP Journe Chronometre Bleu, VC Overseas Chronograph , Black Toro UN, Breguet Marine and 3 Rolexes. But oh well, I realize that the week just have 7 days

Yes thats the Name, I guess I am too worried now with value retention. I wish I could have more money and buy freely without worrying about that.
So until that situation changes, every move will have to be like a chess move LOL

No, PAM 372 is gone, probably one of the best Panerai to own but with all that it didn't have enough wrist time.

Nice to see you again friend. My idea is to have 3-4 watches at the stable at all times. You can flip whatever you want, but when you find 3-4 watches that you truly adore flipping gets harder.

... the 5712R.  It is such a handsome watch and is really beautiful in rose gold. Cheers !

 

I had it before in SS, but the RG wears so much better 

somehow i feel the same way that PP makes the precious metal verisions of the same SS model.. feels .. more softer and warmer.

Rose Gold version feels better on my wrist, gold gives the weight needed for this thin watch. Plus the Bracelet is beautiful but it's a magnet for scratches.

But it hit my brain with an immense amount of reason that the switch was unavoidable.

Maturing taste, because what  pleased you at the beginning will maybe not survive to passing time....

Dreams, because you have to fund them, and no other choice than selling to achieve them.

But at the end of all, it is a matter of reason. Where do you want to go? What do you have to do to achieve your " trip "?

It is, as I already said, a very exciting journey!

I guess you learned a lot. Also you made lots of own experiences and get better in taking your own decisions. It might be hard sometimes for several reasons, but at the end I trust it pays back - even when not monetary.

Now you have an eclectic trilogy and especially the RG PPs I like a lot.

(Side note: Nothing against Rolex in general, but the green one is just not me. Sorry )

Learn a lot, I learn to weed out all the WIS influence from my real likes.  True I lost a lot of money, but that also gave me another learning experience. I created a personal rule when it comes to buy watches " Value Retention is a primary consideration when buying, specially in purchases of 20k and over" I know also that rule also narrows my choices, but that's the rule of my new game. Also I learned that the you can't fully enjoy fully your watches when you have a museum of them. I think if you have 3-4 watches that you truly adore it gives the best enjoyment and because you truly like them flipping them becomes a harder task.

13 to 3....that must have been painful to go through. I have a hard enough time deciding which one to wear each week and which goes into the bank, but to reduce altogether?.. Great choice of the three though, I especially love the PP's. Not a huge fan of Rolex, though, but this choice adds sportiness and versatility to the group.

the point to truly want to consolidate, is a time that can't be imposed. I used to call crazy to anybody that suggest something similar to that "sacrilege"

Can't argue over taste, but you have choosen some very nice watches. Congrats! I fully agree with you, there is only one wrist and 7 days in a week. Besides that I tend to have a preference for one certain watch anyhow. So I went back from 7 to 5 watches and considering slimming that down as well. But what is the perfect collection? One sports, one dress and one complication watch? A man's taste varies and changes over time. It's also hard not giving in to something new. There is always something to be coveted (sadly).

I think 3-4 watches is perfect. My rule is you can buy/flip as many watches as you want as long as you keep 3-4 watches in your stable at all times.

Consolidating a collection is what I am currently trying to do. Will have to learn from you to get into the Forum as a Patek owner. I have an Art Deco platinum Longines, Universal Geneve Compur, a vintage 18k JLC two Rolex and three vintage Girard Perregaux.

Should , it's all about learning what we really like and buying smart.
