Would you trade stainless steel Royal Oak Offshore for PP 5711?

Guys! I have an idea to sell my steel offshore with black dial on rubber strap and buy PP NAUTILUS 5711.
For sure I would need to add some extra cash for this trade.
Do you think it makes sense? 
Of course 5711 is not tool watch compared to Submariner let say and not so durable as AP ROO.
But, how this watch would be as the daily wear watch? How about resistance to wet and water, let say 10 m deep.
How durable is the case? 
Is it makes sense to swap ROO for Nautilus?

i never really had a like for the offshore models , i wear the 5711 everyday and as long as your prepared to live with a few scratches and marks on it(as its prone to accumulating them) you'll be fine. i also swim with it occasionally as its rated to 120m. Just get the resistance tested every year as a precaution.

Yes, I would. Without any hesitation. ROO has been very fashionable for a long time. But what's so special with this watch from where an unlimited amount of "Limited Editions" are published? It's about as nice than a similar looking watch starting with H...

Nautilus 5711 is a great watch and you can swim and dive with that without any problems. This watch is great with suit and with jeans. Get it my friend.

Thank you all, guys! Personally i do understand that we are all biased here and being pro-Patek it’s difficult to judge between two great watches.smile

But, aesthetically I do agree that Nau looks much sophisticated and refined compared to ROO. The main issue I have concerns about is the durability of the case and water resistance. My Moscow AD says that 120m resistance for Patek means that you can only wash your hands and walk under the rain wearing this watch. Bit strange for me given the 120m water resistance.

Plus, how 324 caliber feels itself in sporty watch? I don’t have a problem with 324 in 5127 calatrava, it’s a formal watch. But how this caliber lives in sporty watch?

I don’t care about the scratches – it’s the same if we would be concerned about facial wrinkles and gray hair.

About water resistance

I don't know what the Moscow AD speaks. If a watch is water resistant in the pressure test to 120 meters, it can easily take swimming and scuba diving. I have been diving with Nautilus 3710 and Aquanaut 5167 without any problems.

Just take care that the water resistance is checked annually and if you swim or dive in salty water, clean your watch on the same day carefully with lots of fresh tap water.

If your watch would anyhow leak, take it to Geneva and write a letter to Thierry Stern. I am sure they will settle the issue in a satisfactory way.

The check takes only 2 minutes or so and I have never heard that an AD would charge anything for that. To check to water tightness annually is recommended i.e. by Patek and Rolex.

I got rid of all my beaters (Rolexes, PAM 88) for the 5711. Wearing it today in the ocean. Great non-complication sports watch. My keeps impeccable time.

I would do that deal every day of the week and twice on Sundays. The 5711 is in a league all its own and the Offshore is nice, but again, not even close in my mind to the 5711

but as an everyday watch, i think i prefer a rubber strap watch, simply because the strap is something you can exchange when it gets old.  The problem with a steel nautilus bracelet, once the screws are loose ( like ME ), there isnt much you can do in future.  Cheaper to replace a rubber strap than a steel bracelet.  

Unless u are very very keen on this brand .... or else, how about an Aquanaut instead ?

Many say that Aquanaut is the most comfortable watch ever. In my opinion it's an understatement even I don't know what would be more than the "most comfortable".

An Aquanaut with bracelet and rubber strap will cost you a bit less than 5711. But such an Aquanaut is in fact two very different watches with different personality. If we would get communism and our own Leader "P." saying that only one watch is allowed (because he enjoys watches), I would have a hard time to decide between 5167A with bracelet & rubber strap and 5711. Probably I would take Aquanaut.

AP 15202 ST would be a tougher comparison versus the 5711 given the shared Genta genetics.

To be honest i dont inderstand the look of subdial of 5980.
Maybe it will grow for me someday and my taste will change, but this small digits on subdial looks a bit messy for me.

down to 40 m with watches that are water resistant to 100 meters. No problems!

Next time I'm going diving, I'll take 5167 to 40 meters (as a PADI Divemaster I do not exceed that with more than a couple of meters) and take a couple of photos. I am totally sure there will be no problems.

Did you know that Baltic Sea is the most polluted sea of the globe? There are a couple of nations around who let all the shit from their cities go basically uncleaned to the sea. Small Finland has built cleaning facilities to the neighboring states but that's not enough. Furthermore the water is bloody cold and the pollution has killed most of the life from the Baltic Sea. So the sea is good only if one is interested about ship wrecks and cold water plus finds a very bad visibility challenging...

But Red Sea or the Andaman Sea. Those are my type of place.

I would say yes, make the trade.  I love the RO, but the Offshores just don't do anything for me.  I find the limited edition that comes out each time a watch maker there sneezes, quite tiresome.  I know people love huge watches, but I find the Offshore sort of a bloated distortion of a beautiful design...and to me it loses something in the transformation.  Now if it were a RO 15202 Jumbo...I'd say keep it, and just save up so you can eventually own both : )
