And as for your concern with the fragility of the dial, I see no reason why it should crack because of wearing.
I have never ever heard of any case of this kind. The fragility of the enamel dial is while opening the watch for service if the watchmaker is not a skilled PP one. Again here also the risk is limited if you go to PP for service. Mine (2526J white enamel dial) was properly serviced for years by PP and I have never encountered any problem.
