We acquired our first.  It's a 5120G, but it keeps stopping.  The dealer told us that "as with most automatic winding watches, you have to wind it 20-30 turns manually if it stops and then wearing it should keep it wound"!!  They told me that the normal running time is 48hours?  Is this true?

and then once on the wrist, the general movement should keep it working all the time. It should absolutely NOT stop. If it does, then take it back to the AD.

and as mentioned and if worn regularly, should be just fine and not stop.  But it is important to understand that the power reserve of 40 to 48 hours  is with a full wind.

If the watch is not worn on a daily basis, you may experience times when the watch may stop.

is just to give it enough power to go on for the first period of time after you put it on your wrist. With your wrist moving, the rotor inside will do the winding job for you. So, even if you are wearing your watch all day long but you don't move a lot (say you work in the office and you just write), the watch might stop or lose time after a few hours.

With daily wear the watch should not stop, if it does it has a problem and should be checked.

If you don´t wear it regularly you may consider a watch winder on which you can have it wound/stored...
