Iam not a big fan of slim and small case size watches. Have been given the opportunity to buy my uncle's 5140G perpetual calendar for half the retail price. Iam more keen on the 5960p, 5070G, 5726A (for which iam getting dlvy in September) & 5980. But understanding that this a great classic watch and probably the thinnest perpetual calendar in the market. Should i indulge in this and skip purchase of 5980 or 5135P or 5712R or Lange 1 Timezone in whitegold.

Not what you believe others may think orwhat may or maybe not a good offer.
At the end of the day it is you who has to wear it. And remember unless you move in the higher social circles, not many will even know what your are wearing.
Trust me when I say go with what you want, many of us have been in a similar situation and have regreted not going with our own choice.
By the way all your selection of watches are winners in my eye.

and trade it for a 5960P and 5070G plus some cash on your side...then you get a chance to find out if you really like the 5140, get what you want without any doubt, and pay less!

I like diversity in the pieces I own and having a 5140 would be something that would fill the spot of an important dress watch.  The others are nice, without question, but entirely different from the 5140 as they are not as discreet.  If you are more inclined to the beefier pieces, then maybe the 5140 is not for you, but I would certainly think long and hard before I let that opportunity pass.
