Is a stunner and really shows the brilliant colours.
But that all said, it would not be for me.

5131 G still is my dream watch.Did You realize a strange thing:
Although PP checks everyone who tries to get one and hardly any pieces are around, there are already 5 offered by grey market dealers,4 x5131J and one 5131 G,at astronomic prices.
A Syrian grey market dealer even offers a YG AND a WG one !!
Sad IMO,
how the hell do they get them???

Lutz
This message has been edited by lutz on 2010-06-09 09:32:35About two years ago, i bought my patek 3969PT jump hour, if i am correct to quote, only 50 pcs made in PT, 450 pcs made in RG. All in all, it took me 19 years for the wait before i have the chance to buy this watch.
I remember when they first came out, it was impossible to get your hands on ....
Looking at the current situation on this patek 5131 J or G, i wont speculate what will happen in the future, but if you wait another 19 years, Patek would have come up with something even more interesting ... the formula would not change, by then, i am sure, if i want to buy a patek 5131 in the secondary market, there are plenty to go around.
Happy hunting ...
of course he should sell it at list price if he is honourable.
Still,I tried to negotiate that I might get it at 2009 list price -when I ordered it- and he respectfully denied,so whenever it arrives I will have to pay the actual list price but without premium.
BTW from 5131 G no piece has been delivered yet in our region of Europe.
cheers

2012... which means the flipper just bought recently (late 2012 or early 2013) and sold after a few months for >3X the retail price
Patek will definitely track down the flipper and AD and blacklist the flipper and may give a slap on the wrist for the AD
For all we know, the AD might have flipped it on its own
I have not heard any news from my sources in Hong Kong and China about 5131 being discontinued
But if the catalogue says so, perhaps Christie's know something that we do not
... with the 5131G. Enjoy!

I had a chat recently with SA at PP Salons in Geneve and they admitted that they sold some items for flippers in th past and now they are monitoring each item.
My biggest consern is that they will stop production some day.
P.S. i hope i am number 5 in the wating list, not number 125
... between J and G, that is!
Sorry about the image quality. I have some nice watches, but a crappy camera ... and it's harder than I thought to do a 2-watch wrist shot?
There's a lot of chatter in the post(s) about the engraving on the case, the quality and the size of the cloisonné artwork, and the issue of flipping. I am obviously biased, but also very well experienced.
There is NO issue with the engraving. Most of the people who have seen these watches on my wrist only realize the engraving on the case once I point it out. Honestly, they're almost exclusively drawn to the artwork in the center of the dial. The lighting for the pictures on the Patek web-site makes the engraving more present than it really appears? Moreover, there's really nothing wrong with the script. In person it's actually very well-done.
In my opinion the cloisonné artwork cannot be fully appreciated by the naked eye. From a far it looks beautiful. With a magnifying glass, however, it's absolutely stunning. Even a non-artist (like myself) can't help but marvel at the extreme task it must be to replicate the world map(s) in such a confined area. TRULY AMAZING!
Flipping? My guess is that it probably isn't done by a watch aficionado or collector. I would think this is especially true for a piece that isn’t very old? Someone who truly appreciates watches couldn’t let a 5131 go. Dr. KOL is right.
