Patek Philippe

Recently I look the picture of 5078P and 5959P. They are very nice watches. which one do you prefer? why?

...I personally perferr 5959. Why? That's a good question.. If I could have only one watch in the whole universe, this is the one!!

between the choices of the two, 5959 in a heart beat. 

5078 indeed a pretty watch, but there are models higher. 

But 5959 is in a league of its own, hard to compare ...

I love the idea of a split seconds chronograph. Especially an all in-house movement wish such classic proportions and a single start/stop/reset button.

But I truly love the sound of the 5078; you can't ask a 5959 to make such a lovely sound. It's just not possible. I'd rather have my watch sing to me beautifully than measure the lap times of two race cars.

But agreed, the 5959 is in a league of its own and the best of the best among split second chronos when the 5078 is not as remarkable among the various minute repeaters.

I'm partial to minute repeaters, you'll have to forgive me.

I would prefer the Minute Repearter complication over the Split Second.

The 5078 is truly beautiful but the 5959 has IMO the most incredible current PP calibre!

Both are very nice watches. I wish that I can afford both, but I can only choose one of them. Sometimes, I wonder why Patek always make these wonderful watches. the price is almost out of reach. I would like to hear more suggestions. Thank you.

While I would love to have a 5078, the 5959 is unique and one of the rarest watches in the world. 

Simple, elegant, yet very complex and difficult to build with only a maximum of 10 made per year. Amazing engineering to make a split of this type in a movement so small.  Truly extraordinary and destined to be a Patek classic.

The difficulty is not in choosing the 5959 over the 5078 but trying to decide between the white and black dials of the 5959.

Thank you for all suggestions. I think I'll go for 5078P, simple and elegent, I like 5959 too, but the 33.2mm case is too small for me.

Have you tried a 5959 on your wrist?  It wears larger than its size.

especially on white dial, no doubt 5959 is a nice watch.

While I appreciate the technical execution of 5959, that watch us simply
too small even for my srawny wrist. Had a chance to hold it in my hands.
